Senior living communities are not one size fits all, and finding the right one can take time. In fact, most families tour several communities before finding a place that truly feels like the right fit.

That’s where I can help.

As a Senior Living Consultant, I regularly tour local communities and I’m familiar with what each location offers, from amenities and levels of care to the overall environment and experience. That firsthand knowledge allows me to help families narrow down their options before spending valuable time touring places that may not meet their needs.

And my support doesn’t stop with recommendations.

I tour communities with you. If needed, I can tour on your behalf and provide video tours. I’ll help ask the right questions, compare your options, and continue searching until we find a community that feels right for you or your loved one.

You don’t have to navigate senior living alone. Having someone who knows the local options can make the search feel a whole lot more manageable.

Are you drinking enough water?

Hydration is important at every age, but as we get older, staying properly hydrated can become more challenging and even more important. Our sense of thirst can weaken, our bodies hold less water, medications can affect fluid balance, and sometimes mobility or memory can make it harder to drink consistently.

The good news? Small habits can make a big difference.

Keep water within easy reach, enjoy water-rich fruits and vegetables, make hydration part of your daily routine, and don’t always wait until you feel thirsty to grab a drink.

Did you know that up to 45% of dementia risk may be prevented or delayed by addressing modifiable lifestyle and health factors?

The World Health Organization recently released updated global guidelines emphasizing something we've long believed: prevention matters. While no cure currently exists for Alzheimer's disease or many other forms of dementia, people can take steps today to help protect their brain health in the years ahead.

Whether you're planning for your own future or helping care for a loved one, understanding these recommendations can make a real difference.

Happy Fourth of July from Carroll Senior Living Consulting! ❤️🤍💙

As we celebrate our nation's independence with family gatherings, cookouts, and fireworks, let's also remember that the holiday can be overwhelming for some of our senior loved ones.

For many older adults, especially our military veterans, the sounds and flashes of fireworks may trigger difficult memories, anxiety, or confusion. For those living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, the unexpected noise and change in routine can also be unsettling.

If you're spending time with an aging loved one this holiday, a few small gestures can make a big difference:
❤️ Check in before the fireworks begin.
🇺🇸 Keep familiar routines whenever possible.
❤️ Offer a quiet, comfortable space away from loud celebrations.
🇺🇸 Most importantly, spend time together. Your presence is often the greatest gift you can give.

As we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy today, let's also honor those who helped protect them and extend a little extra patience, compassion, and understanding to the seniors who paved the way for us.

From all of us at Carroll Senior Living Consulting, we wish you and your family a safe, peaceful, and Happy Independence Day.

One of the hardest conversations families face is knowing when it may no longer be safe for a loved one with dementia to live alone, and what kind of support comes next.

In my latest blog, I’m walking through three of the most common care options families consider:
• In-home support
• Assisted living with memory care support
• Dedicated memory care communities

I share the real pros and cons of each, along with some of the questions I encourage families to ask as they navigate this deeply personal decision.

If your family is beginning to wonder what the right next step looks like, I hope this guide offers some clarity, reassurance, and support. You are not alone in this process.

If you’d like help talking through your loved one’s specific situation, I’m always happy to help guide families through their options.

One of the most common calls I receive goes something like this: "My mom has been living with dementia for a few years now and things are getting harder. I don’t know if she is safe to drive or live alone anymore, and the worry and day-to-day tasks are becoming so difficult. I don’t know if we c...
