Coosa Valley Medical Center was proud to welcome members from the University of Alabama’s Rural Health Scholars Program for a special hospital tour and healthcare career experience.

Representing communities from across the state of Alabama, these future healthcare professionals had the opportunity to explore our hospital, meet members of our team, and learn more about the many rewarding career paths available in rural healthcare.

At CVMC, we believe investing in the next generation of healthcare leaders is essential to strengthening the future of rural medicine. Coosa Valley Medical Center is proud to partner with the Alabama Department of Public Health and the Alabama Perinatal Quality Collaborative to promote safe sleep practices and support healthier outcomes for our smallest patients.

Through the Safe Sleep Initiative, our Labor & Delivery team recently received infant sleep sacks and peanut balls to help enhance the care and education we provide to growing families.

Sleep sacks offer a safer alternative to loose blankets by helping babies stay warm while reducing the risk of sleep-related injuries. Peanut balls are used during labor to help support comfort, positioning, and progression during childbirth.

We are grateful to ADPH and the Alabama Perinatal Quality Collaborative for investing in the health and safety of Alabama families and for helping us continue to provide exceptional care close to home.

At CVMC, we’re committed to continually enhancing the care we provide to mothers and babies. These new resources are just the beginning as we continue growing and strengthening Women’s Services. Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the months ahead. 👶💙

Honoring a Legacy of Compassion, Service, and Nursing Excellence!

The Betty Grier Gallaher Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the remarkable life and legacy of Betty Grier Gallaher, a dedicated nurse who spent more than 40 years caring for patients, supporting colleagues, and making a lasting impact at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

Throughout her career, Betty served in many roles, but her greatest passion was always caring for others. Whether she was working the midnight shift, mentoring the next generation of nurses, or simply offering a comforting presence at the bedside, Betty embodied the compassion, dedication, and heart of nursing.

Each year, this scholarship is awarded to aspiring nurses who share Betty’s commitment to exceptional patient care and a desire to serve their community through a career in healthcare.
