We hear it all the time..

👉🏼 “I’m just not good at tracking my food.”

👉🏼 “I really don’t want to track. Can we do something else?”

👉🏼 “Can you just tell me what to eat instead?”

Look, we get it! Tracking your food can be hard and tedious at first. But like anything else in life, it becomes easier the more you do it. Once you get yourself on a consistent routine, tracking your food really is quite easy!

Here are some simple ways you can start tracking your food:

1️⃣ Take pen to paper and just write it down (or use the notes app in your phone). This could be a great first step and simply makes you more aware of WHAT you are eating.

2️⃣ If you want to count the calories, the easiest way is to use an app, like MyFitnessPal. Nearly every food you could search on the internet is already in the database, making the process quick and easy!

3️⃣ Just track your protein intake! (Arguably the most important macronutrient) Write it down, note it in your phone, use an app… whatever you prefer, but just track your protein. If you’re consistently below 100 grams, it’s probably a safe bet to increase that.

4️⃣ And for my veteran trackers out there, pre-log your food! If you’ve been tracking for a while, you’re likely already on a good routine. This can save you time later in your day.

5️⃣ For the love of God- track your water!! You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces every single day. If you’re not hitting that goal, START HERE!

The easy answer is that both are equally important. However, if your goal is weight loss, you must focus on how much you’re consuming. Every calorie counts, whether it’s nutritious or not.

However, food quality can help you feel your best while in a calorie deficit.

Prioritizing veggies, fruits, lean proteins, and whole grains will help fuel your body with vitamins, minerals, and FIBER 💪 which all support your metabolism.

High-quality foods can also help us feel fuller for longer and avoid “empty calories” from processed foods and sugary drinks.

A calorie deficit can be challenging, but choosing the right foods can help you stay on track and feel satisfied.

Focusing on both food quantity and quality can help you create a balanced weight loss approach that supports your overall health & wellbeing.

We hear it all the time.. “I need to lose weight, but I don’t want to track my food.” Well, Hon- you’re making it significantly harder on yourself.

There are so many great apps out there to simplify the tracking process, but if you really don’t want to use an app, simply writing down what you eat can be a first step.

Putting pen to paper! Building awareness!

But fact of the matter is, we need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight, and we do not know with absolute certainty how many calories we burn on a daily basis. What we can control is how many calories we consume, and idk anyone who has an all-star memory and math skills to track their calories without writing it down or putting it into an app of some sort.

In a world where we constantly look for instant gratification, this is an easy way to get just that…

I’ve never regretted taking that walk in the sun.

I’ve never regretted starting my day with water instead of caffeine.

I’ve definitely never regretted filling my body with something I know will benefit me long term.

Doing these three simple things every day are going to infinitely increase your quality of life over time.

Keep it simple! It’s just health!
