Raising six kids means everything takes longer... but it also means there's always an extra set of hands.
Today Scarlett helped me can some of the hog meat we had in the freezer. She added spices and seasonings, packed jars, mashed meat down with the wooden spoon, and took her job very seriously.
One day she probably won't remember the details of canning day, but I hope she remembers standing at the counter beside me learning how to do things for herself.
That's the kind of heritage we are trying to pass down. Useful skills, a strong work ethic, and the confidence that comes from knowing how to provide for your family. ā¤ļø
