One Kidney For Sarah

One Kidney For Sarah Update! On 2/10/26 Sarah received her life-saving kidney donation from her living donor! A living donor can do that.

My name is Sarah, I have end-stage kidney disease, and I need a kidney transplant. I believe my match is out there, I just have to ask.

Happy Father’s Day!

There’s a lot of ways to be inspired by your dad, and here’s a big one: Sarah’s dad has celebrated 31 years with his donated kidney. What a role model to caring for the gift of life! 💚
Thanks to that donor, that’s 31 more Father’s Days celebrated.

April 1st is National Living Donor Day and April is National Donate Life Month!

Hi all, Sarah here. I have been celebrating Donate Life month for many years with my dad, but now April, and especially today, takes on an extra special meaning.
In honor of Living Donor Day, I wanted to share this picture we took with my donor, Ryan, and his fiancée Lindsay when we went out to dinner three days before our surgeries. I am extremely lucky to know my donor and be able to have the relationships that we all do to be able celebrate the experience this way.
Living donation can look a lot of different ways: most often, it is a family member if possible. In my case it was a friend who felt drawn to help. On the rare occasion, an “altruistic” donor signs up with no particular person in mind, but wants to contribute to help a stranger.
Living donors actually help save two lives: their recipient and the next person waiting on the donation list.
In honor of this month, I ask everyone to please consider organ donation, whether it be living or listing 💚

A little technical difficulties as we had hoped to share this yesterday, on National Donor Day as a thank you to Sarah’s donor!…

Not enough words for the thanks we feel.

Don’t worry if you are having a tough time prioritizing your resolutions - we made a list for you!

Most are easy. One’s kind of a big deal. All help.

Every share keeps the story moving and brings us one step closer to a match. Thank you for continuing to support. 💚

A great story about Upstate Hospital’s (Sarah’s hospital) donor exchange program.

A big question we get asked is often: what is Sarah’s blood type? With a donor exchange, you could still help Sarah without having to be her direct match.

Please feel free to contact us to learn more about living donors and the donor exchange program through Upstate.

A Watertown couple’s years of sacrifice and patience reveal the profound impact one act of kindness can set in motion.
