Three ball fields, two wings, one very busy year in Taholah. 🐝

The New Taholah K-12 School has come a long way since our crews mobilized in January. Framing is nearly done, and the primary and secondary wings and shared spaces now look like the school they’re going to be. Next up: roofing and exterior siding.

Out on the site, the football, baseball, and softball fields are graded and seeded, so the grass is officially on the clock. Large retention ponds are shaped and doing their job, tied together by large-diameter storm drain pipe. Asphalt paving is off to an early start, too.

This campus is part of the effort to relocate the village of Taholah out of the tsunami inundation zone, and every milestone here moves that work forward.

Port Angeles voted in 2024 to replace Port Angeles High School and build a new Franklin Elementary. That's a big community investment, and we want as much of it as possible to stay on the peninsula, with local businesses and local crews.

If you're a contractor or sub in the area, come meet us on Thursday, October 15, from 4 to 6 PM at the Red Lion Hotel Port Angeles Harbor. Port Angeles School District is hosting an info session on upcoming work at both schools.

We're building the new high school, and our team will walk you through what's coming: designs, scopes of work, timeline, project goals, and the bid packages ahead. We'll also cover how public school work operates, so you're ready well before bidding opens.

Port Angeles families will fill this school. We'd love for local hands to build it.

Sailing into the weekend like ~ 🚢🏗️

After seven years in the making, the historic Parthia tugboat has officially arrived at her final destination: the Olympia Waterfront!

In partnership with the South Sound Maritime Heritage Association, FORMA helped bring this long-awaited project to life as the 120-year-old, 50-foot tugboat took to the air above a crowd of fans this week. A 240-ton crane lifted her from the trailer and carefully set her in her new home.

It’s not every day you get to watch a tugboat fly. 😎

Speaking of fabulous interns! Today was our summer intern Sam’s last day at Hazen High School. She surprised the team with a hand-drawn illustration commemorating her time with us.

Travis White, our General Foreman at Hazen, shared, "Today is Sam's last day as our summer intern, and she surprised us by bringing in donuts along with this handmade drawing she created for us. It was such a thoughtful gift, and she did an amazing job."

From the jobsite to the office, our interns have been busy building more than projects—they've been building skills, confidence, and the future of our industry. 👷📐

This summer, we're lucky to have 9 amazing interns on the team: 2 laborer interns, 4 college interns, and 3 high school interns. They come from Saint Martin's University, Hazen High School, Seattle Public Schools, the University of Washington, Loyola Marymount University, and Washington State University, bringing interests and majors in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Community, Environment, and Planning.

They're asking great questions, taking on new challenges, and reminding us that fresh perspectives make every team stronger.

School’s almost out, and the students at Hazen are counting down the days!

Last Friday, a few of our field crew members swapped their hard hats for judges’ gavels and helped evaluate projects in a Hazen High School woodshop class. Let’s just say there are some birds around Renton about to move into some pretty impressive new homes. 😎 🐦

One of the most rewarding parts of our multi-phase Hazen High School project for Renton School District has been becoming part of the school community. Our team has had opportunities to support everything from special events to classroom activities, and the enthusiasm our crews show every time says a lot about the incredible team at this site.

Shoutout to Jeremy "Chef" Gilbert, Joel Farwell, Gabe Phillips, and Gio Franco for volunteering their time and encouraging the next generation of craftspeople.

A major milestone for the future of Port Angeles! 🏗️

Last week, students, staff, community leaders, and project partners gathered onsite to celebrate the placement of one of the final structural steel beams at the new Hurricane Ridge Middle School. Over 450 students signed the ceremonial beam before it was lifted into place, leaving their mark on a school that will serve generations to come. The FORMA team, School Board, Capital Advisory Committee, Integrus Architecture, and Vanir added our signatures too, a small but meaningful nod to everyone helping bring this project to life.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing Port Angeles School District Superintendent Michelle Olsen suited up and safely hoisted into position to help install a structural steel bolt alongside the project team, a fitting symbol of the District's hands-on commitment to the future of education in Port Angeles.

Thank you to the Port Angeles community for trusting us with this work. We're proud to help build it.

As National Apprenticeship Week comes to a close, we’re thinking about all the ways the next generation finds its way into the trades: sometimes on a jobsite, sometimes in a classroom, and sometimes through something as simple as LEGOs (or complex, depending on whom you ask!). 🏗

From Try-a-Trade events and Pierce County Construction Career Day to STEAM nights, school visits, student groundbreakings, and hands-on activities, these moments give students a chance to see construction up close, ask questions, try something new, and picture a future they may not have considered before.

We also want to give a huge shoutout to the Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, and field leaders who keep that future moving every day. So much of this industry is learned person to person, by watching, asking, practicing, and being taught. Thank you to the mentors who make space for that learning and help the next generation find their footing in the field.

Apprenticeships aren’t just important, they’re essential. ✅

In 2026, the industry will need to attract an estimated 349,000 new workers to meet demand, and apprenticeships are one of the best ways to build that future from the ground up. They create pathways for people to learn a skilled trade, earn while they grow, and step into long-term careers with stability, opportunity, and purpose.

They also help our industry keep up with a changing workforce by closing skills gaps, supporting the next generation of builders, and evolving how we train for the realities of modern construction.

As workforce dynamics continue to shift, more people are choosing construction as a strong alternative to a college path. When we asked our apprentices why they chose the trades, one theme came through loud and clear: stability.

Construction offers a living wage, health insurance, the ability to save for retirement, and opportunities for long-term growth. For our apprentices, it’s more than a job; it’s a career path with a future.
