It’s Williams syndrome awareness month and I wanted to share this picture of my Pop Pop.

Jacob was not happy in this picture.
Today we had a conversation that included me, Jacob and his adaptive skills therapist. The conversation was about how the APEIS at Jacob’s school has to give him multiple reminders of no hugging. I really appreciate that they are also working on that at school, this is something we have been working on at home, for few years now. Now that Jacob is older and noticing girls 🤦🏻‍♀️ and wants to give lots of hugs. Luckily, the girls like Jacob LOL and he seems to be quite popular at school. This is so important to show Jacob when it’s appropriate to give hugs and when it’s not. It’s hard because he see’s how affectionate Franky and I are and then seeing Jessica with her boyfriend, he wants to feel that type of affection too.

Him having Williams syndrome makes this so hard because they are naturally SUPER affectionate and highly in tuned with their emotions.

So what you see here is Jacob feeling down about not being able to give hugs and even making comments saying, “I wish I didn’t have Special needs” “it’s so hard being a boy” and “why did I have to get put in your belly?”

Oh my special boy.
