Alright y’all, welcome to another episode of Just How Life Goes.
I’m about to head out to photograph a wedding, but before I jump in the shower and get ready, I wanted to do a quick wound check with y’all.
And whew… this pilonidal cyst is putting me through it right now.
The drainage has been nonstop. There’s blood, there’s pus, there’s inflammation, and honestly, it’s one of the rougher flare-ups I’ve dealt with in a while. It has even split open, which is a whole different level of discomfort and pain. I’ll share more photos later so you can better understand what I’m dealing with, but right now I’m just trying to stay ahead of it and keep everything as clean as possible.
This is one of those moments where chronic illness doesn’t care what you have planned. It doesn’t care that you have work to do. It doesn’t care that you’re trying to show up for people. It just shows up anyway.
The good news is my armpits are actually doing pretty decent since getting my Remicade. I can still feel one area trying to flare, and if you’ve lived with HS long enough, you know that feeling before you even see it. I’m hoping the medication catches it before it fully develops because I’d love to avoid another major flare-up.
But for now, I’m doing what I always do—clean up, get dressed, show up, and keep moving forward.
Because even with the pain, the drainage, and the frustration, life keeps going… and so do I.
Now let me get in this shower before I’m late to this wedding. 😂
Love y’all. 🖤
