I’m really out here in these streets!

Not just posting about birth work.
Not just talking about supporting mamas.
I’m OUT HERE doing the work.

Volunteering. Connecting. Serving. Giving back. Nurturing relationships with other birth workers and making sure families know they have people in their corner.

Another day serving alongside Jamijo Kids and Central Florida Birth Network, and I’m grateful every single time I get the opportunity to show up for my community of mamas.

You can’t always see the work online. Sometimes you have to be in these streets putting the work in.

The 1st Annual Breastfeeding Event for Sumter County was truly something special and this is only the beginning!

Let’s make this an annual tradition!

A huge thank you to all of the vendors and sponsors who believed in the vision and showed up to support our families and our community. Your support helped make this event possible.

We may be a small county, but we are growing, our families have needs, and our community matters. Rural families deserve access to resources, support, education, and connection just as much as families in larger communities.

This event was about more than breastfeeding it was about building community, creating connections, and reminding families that they are seen and supported right here at home.

This is just the beginning. Sumter County, let’s do it again next year!

For the past two years, I've had to turn families away because I couldn't accept BCBS insurance for lactation support, but I'm excited to announce that I've joined a pilot program to provide free virtual lactation appointments.

Eligible Anthem members must complete a few simple steps, including signing-up for Anthem’s Building Healthy Families (BHF) program.

Here's how to get started:
🔹 STEP 1 — Verify your insurance coverage
Complete the insurance coverage form here:

🔹 STEP 2 — Enroll in Anthem’s Building Healthy Families (BHF) program. Eligible members must complete enrollment in the BHF program to access covered virtual lactation consultations.

🔹 STEP 3 — Wait for coverage confirmation.
If approved, you'll receive up to 6 covered visits!

This approach to accessing lactation coverage isn’t ideal. But after spending the last two years having to tell families, “I’m sorry, I can’t accept your insurance,” I’m grateful to finally have a pathway that allows more families to use their benefits.

Rooted in Support: Growing Breastfeeding Families in Rural Communities would not have been the same without the incredible organizations, businesses, and community partners who showed up for our families.

Thank you for giving your time, sharing your resources, educating families, and being willing to connect with the community.
