For the past two years, I've had to turn families away because I couldn't accept BCBS insurance for lactation support, but I'm excited to announce that I've joined a pilot program to provide free virtual lactation appointments.

Eligible Anthem members must complete a few simple steps, including signing-up for Anthem’s Building Healthy Families (BHF) program.

Here's how to get started:
🔹 STEP 1 — Verify your insurance coverage
Complete the insurance coverage form here:

🔹 STEP 2 — Enroll in Anthem’s Building Healthy Families (BHF) program. Eligible members must complete enrollment in the BHF program to access covered virtual lactation consultations.

🔹 STEP 3 — Wait for coverage confirmation.
If approved, you'll receive up to 6 covered visits!

This approach to accessing lactation coverage isn’t ideal. But after spending the last two years having to tell families, “I’m sorry, I can’t accept your insurance,” I’m grateful to finally have a pathway that allows more families to use their benefits.

I am thrilled to welcome the W.I.C Department from the Florida Department of Health as a vendor for the Breastfeeding Event in Sumter County!

We will be raffling off a $25 Target gift card and the first 15 mamas in attendance will be able to get a postpartum kit.
