Part 1/2: Maybe you wake up and mindlessly scroll on your phone, drive to work the same way, or ruminate, thinking about the same things over and over without relief.

Living on autopilot has its benefits – it frees up mental space for other tasks. Autopilot is a valuable asset when it comes to healthy habits. Take your vitamins or supplements on autopilot? ✅Great!

Of course, autopilot also has its downsides – sometimes we keep doing something the same way we always have purely out of habit, rather than because it actually serves us in a healthy way. ❌Not so great!

Let’s start with a few questions.
📖Feel free to journal about your responses (and be honest with yourself).

1. In what area(s) of my life am I in a rut?
2. Among those areas, which one is the highest priority to shift or upgrade right now?
3. What made me choose that area as the priority
(connect with WHY this is the most meaningful area)?
4. Am I open to doing something different in order to change?

Sometimes we say YES to change but feel resistance or stagnation, because we’re just not sure what to do to enact change.

Part 2/2: 🌟Over the next 3 days, mindfully practice a beginner’s mind, experiencing the world as if for the first time.

Even if your circumstances stay exactly the same, this practice shakes up old narratives and infuses fresh possibilities and perspectives. Remember that whatever we focus on expands. Let’s use the power of the mind to our advantage!

Here are some ideas to begin...

➡️Tune into your Breath
Step 1: Observe.
- Where do you normally breathe (up into your chest or down into your lower belly and through your nose or mouth)?
- Pace (quick or slow breaths)?

Step 2: Practice.
- Take 10 mindful, slow, deep belly breaths. Stay present. If you lose count, begin again.

Step 3: Reflect.
- How was this practice for you?
- What thoughts, emotions, or bodily sensations did it evoke?

➡️Take a Nature Walk
If heat deters you from going outside and your schedule allows, enjoy an early morning walk.
Be present to the sights, sounds, smells, and so on.
Touch the grass, trees, sand, rocks, or whatever is in your surroundings.
Allow nature to heal you.
If walking isn’t possible for you, adapt these recommendations to suit what makes sense for you.

➡️Be Curious About Your Surroundings (Commute Edition)
- When traveling somewhere you often go, like work, a grocery store, a friend’s home, etc, consciously choose to go different route.
- If traveling the usual route, consciously notice your surroundings differently than you normally do.
- What do you appreciate about this commute?
- What do you see that you never noticed before?
- How does this expanded perspective make you feel?

➡️Enjoy it NOW
- Is there something you’ve been saving for “a special occasion?”
- Use the nice plates, wear the fancy clothes, enjoy your stuff and the moment TODAY rather than later!

➡️Explore Your Area
- Explore your city’s or area’s upcoming events: concerts, fruit-picking, tea ceremonies, wellness expos, festivals, potlucks, book clubs, art galleries, museums, community walks, etc.
- What do you already enjoy doing? How can you experience it differently?
- What’s something brand new that piques your interest?
- What’s something completely out of your comfort zone that you’re willing to try?

This is a far from exhaustive list of options.

After our May 23rd (Sat) 3-5pm cacao ceremony: sensory self-care experience, join us for our community spiritual swap + vegan soup swap at Manor Mill!

This event is designed to bring our community together to share and exchange spiritual tools and enjoy delicious food in a warm, supportive environment.

☮️What's a Spiritual Swap?

If you have any oracle cards, crystals, sage/smudge, essential oils, incense, meditation cushions, sound bowls, tinctures/tonics, candles, books, art, or other spiritual items that you no longer resonate with, bring them with you! Allow these gifts to find a new home, and discover something new to explore on your spiritual journey.

🍲What’s a Soup Swap?

Everyone makes soup, brings enough to share (aim for at least 8 cups), sample others’ recipes, and take samples of a few (or several) of your favorites home with you.

If you’re craving sour foods, your liver may be signaling that it needs more support.

🍋🍋‍🟩corporate lemons, limes, pickles, vinegar, fermented foods (kimchi, sauerkraut), and green foods like celery, spinach, kale, collard greens. Green foods tend to be abundant in fiber, vitamins, carotene, and minerals (iron, selenium, etc). Eating these kinds of foods helps to maintain pH balance, promote smooth bowel movements, and balance gut bacteria.

❗However, be mindful that consuming too much sour food can result in the following dysfunctions: injured muscles, hardened and wrinkles skin, and stiff tendons.

❓Did you know that theobromine is the main stimulant in cacao?

It stimulates the cardiovascular system and is a vasodilator (which relaxes your blood vessels, allowing for better blood and qi circulation throughout the body). This increased blood flow also reduces stuck, stagnant energy, supporting emotional release.

Immerse within your senses, exploring healing that's always available to you during this guided experience. The potency of healing is amplified with our cacao ceremony at Manor Mill in Monkton.

In Chinese Medicine's "5 Flavors" approach, sour is the flavor or taste that corresponds to and supports liver and gall bladder health (including eye and tendon health).

Sour foods are astringent and absorb, which means they hold in fluid and stop discharge (like excess sweating and diarrhea). They’re also useful for correcting an irregular, slow heartbeat and indirectly strengthening the lungs.

Food that’s green (the color associated with the sour flavor) promotes the smooth flow of liver qi and blood, generally detox the liver, and soothe difficult emotions like anger or frustration.

❣️Looking for a qigong flow that also supports liver, gall bladder, eye, tendon health and more? Next up: virtual qigong, acupressure, and meditation today at 7pm EST! https://www.qigonghw.com/qigong-classes

Food is medicine, and its healing benefits extend beyond simply its nutrients.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) also emphasizes the “5 Flavors” (sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty). Each flavor corresponds to one of the 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) and impacts the energy of specific organs.

To note, any excess or deficiency of one flavor affects not only the organ to which it corresponds, but all the other organs as well.
