I have to take a moment to share my gratitude for my team! When I started my own practice nearly 4 years ago, I never imagined I’d be where I am today. God sent me each of my nurses when I needed them. I would always be nervous hiring someone new- can I afford to pay them, will we work well together, will they work well with each other and will they love my patients like I do. But somehow each one has been a perfect fit to the puzzle and God has provided! My patients have called us “the dream team” and I couldn’t agree more! Kelly is the voice that answers every call and provides education, comfort, and encouragement to every patient that calls. Brook is the best lactation consultant you’ll ever find. She spends hours with women to help them successfully breastfeed and her knowledge and compassion amazes me. Beth keeps me organized, makes us all laugh and loves on my patients like nothing I’ve ever seen. The only position I’ve had to post to try to fill was for another midwife, and God sent me Tonya. She has taken a load off of me and given me family time back. She’s smart and caring and has jumped into this position with excitement and compassion. I read a lot about leadership and business management so I can grow my business and be my best, but I can’t beat what God has already provided for me. I don’t advertise my services yet never have to worry about income. I’ve learned that when you genuinely care for others, they seek you out. All of my business comes from word of mouth. People know who cares and can sense your intentions from a mile away. I thank God every day for choosing me to care for this community and giving me the help to do that. And every time I start to get burnt out or start letting the enemy get to me to tell me I’m not good enough or that I should be doing something different, a patient sends a card or brings a gift to show their gratitude and I’m reminded that God has me right where I need to be ❤️

Cleaning up genes + Hormone care = a better quality of life! There’s so much talk about estrogen deficiency, but estrogen dominance during pre- and Perimenopausal years are just as bothersome! Sometimes it’s a low progesterone issue and sometimes it’s your body not clearing estrogen like it is supposed to. Finding the root cause to your symptoms is so important!

I've been on a personal journey this past year to be healthier and this led to me finally doing a DNA test to look at my genetics and how they affect my health. We all know that genes can play a big role in our health and whether we are predisposed to certain health conditions. I have quite a family history of heart disease, autoimmune disorders, and being prone to depression and anxiety. I've seen my own family as well as numerous patients constantly battle with finding the right medications and treatments, often with little relief of symptoms and rarely finding cures for health conditions. Our healthcare in America focuses on pharmaceuticals to treat symptoms, which often causes new symptoms. I've wandered into functional and integrative medicine more to find root causes of our problems. Our bodies are screaming at us through symptoms and instead of trying to solve the problems, we simply muffle the noise. When I did a genetic test and saw my results, it opened my eyes to what could be answers to issues I've battled for years. I've educated patients on healthy diet, exercise, stress management, and sleep hygiene my entire career, but only because we know it's all important to our health. I never really stopped to think about HOW and WHY these things are important to health. I feel embarrassed that I've never stopped to get down to this depth of disease before now. But once you know better, you do better. The main finding on my DNA test that grabbed me was my MTHFR gene. I have a variant that affects how my body uses folate (vitamin B9). This is a huge part of our body's way of detoxifying our cells, providing energy for us and truly keeping us going. I've studied the relationship between MTHFR and miscarriages and counseled women on how to manage this to prevent future miscarriages and birth defects. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. Improper function of the MTHFR gene can lead to heart disease, strokes, mood disorders, menstrual issues in women and many other problems. After doing research into MTHFR and other gene variants, I feel the need to share this information with everyone that will listen! I found the book "Dirty Genes" that addresses the 7 "super" genes that affects soooo much of our health and well being. If you have any chronic health conditions, you need to read this book.
