Every morning, before the world wakes up, I find myself walking along the ocean as the sun begins to rise. This has become my quiet time with the Lord, and I honestly donāt know if words can fully capture what these mornings have meant to me.
Standing at the edge of the ocean reminds me just how small I am and how incredibly big, majestic, and glorious God is. The endless horizon, the crashing waves, the colors He paints across the skyācreation continually points me back to the greatness of our Creator.
This morning there was a small storm over the water. The wind was stronger, the clouds were darker, and the waves were restless. But then the sun began to rise.
Itās incredible what light does to darkness.
In just a matter of moments, everything changed. The darkness gave way to light, peace replaced uncertainty, and I was reminded that the same God who speaks light into darkness is the One who calms the storms in our lives. He doesnāt change because the skies are cloudy. His power isnāt diminished by the wind and the waves. He is still faithful. He is still sovereign. He is still good.
The song that has been on my heart all morning says it perfectly:
āLord, You are more precious than silver.
Lord, You are more costly than gold.
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds,
and nothing I desire compares with You.ā
What a beautiful reminder that no matter what this world offersāor what storms we may faceānothing compares to Him.
As we prepare for Zalieās surgery today, my heart is choosing to rest in that truth. The One who created this sunrise is the same One who holds the day in His hands.
