šŸŽ‰ HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO AL COUTURE!!! šŸŽ‰

On May 30, 2026, Alan Couture accomplished something many people only talk about doing… he completed his very first triathlon!

What makes this even more impressive is the journey that got him here.

Just a year ago, in 2025, Al was working through some significant knee challenges. Many people would have used that as a reason to sit on the sidelines. Al chose a different path.

He committed to the process.

The first big step was signing up for Walloon Lake Triathlon . (Ryan, the race director for TriWalloon was also racing, pictured here with beard) In triathlon, that’s when the dream becomes real. Until you register, it’s just wishful thinking. Once you sign up, the journey begins.

But Al wasn’t content to wait.

Excited and motivated, he added Tri Greenville Triathlon to the schedule and suddenly it was game on.

He arrived in Greenville the day before the race, checked out the course, saw the 74° water temperature, and was ready for the adventure ahead.

Race morning, Al showed up to transition excited and prepared. Was greeted by Kurt, Glenn, Jenn and Marilyn. He approached the swim wisely, following the advice of Coach K and swim coach Larry, and it paid off perfectly.

Then came the bike.

Al absolutely crushed it.

Rolling into T2 with a huge smile on his face, he headed out onto the run, laughing, joking with volunteers, and soaking in every moment of the experience.

And when he crossed that finish line?

That smile was even bigger.

In his later 60s, Al proved something important:

Age is not the limitation.

Doubt is.

Anything is possible when you’re willing to take the first step and keep showing up.

Congratulations, Al! We hope you’re enjoying a well-earned recovery day today.

And one more thing…

šŸ‘€ Watch out, Walloon.

Al is coming for you.

While a whole lot of our friends were over at Bayshore chasing finish lines, we were in the Lab putting in our own kind of work.

4:30 a.m. crew showed up early and got after it.
The big mission: 50 miles on the bike + a 5-mile run.

That is not a small morning. That is the kind of brick that builds patience, confidence, and the ability to keep moving when the day gets long.

Strong bike. Strong run. Strong crew.

We missed being out there cheering at Bayshore, but huge congratulations to every runner who crossed the line this weekend — first-timers, experienced racers, and everyone in between. Getting to the finish line matters, and we see you.

Great morning. Great brick. Great kickoff to Memorial Weekend.

Work got done.

Memorial Day Weekend means one thing… race season is officially ON.

While CoachK was down at Ironman Jacksonville helping rally athletes pre-race, during the race, and all the way through the finish line celebration, the MiTri crew kept stacking wins. Huge congrats to our own Casey Edick Construction on becoming a 10-Time IRONMAN at IRONMAN Jacksonville. That’s a milestone earned through years of grit, consistency, sacrifice, and showing up when nobody’s watching. Respect.

And while some athletes are in recovery mode after Jacksonville… Bike Lab doesn’t stop.

Tuesday morning the garage doors were open. The 4:15 AM crew rolled in early and went to work. Then the 5:30 AM crew showed up just in time for one of those pure Michigan mornings… light rain, sunrise breaking through the clouds, trying to figure out where the rainbow was while making shadow puppets between intervals. Absolutely ridiculous. Absolutely perfect.

Then came the work. Long threshold intervals that felt impossible at times. The kind where you question yourself halfway through, back off, regroup, and then find a way to go again. That’s the point. That’s training. Race day is the reward for these mornings.

Shoutout to Glenn Goodman, Jason, Sarah, Joe, and everybody out there racing Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga, recovering, training, and chasing big goals this season. From IRONMAN USA – Midwest finish lines to sprint tris like TRI Greenville… the season is rolling and the MiTri crew is getting after it.

Let’s go.

To the moms who somehow balance swim goggles, bike shoes, running shoes, school schedules, snacks, laundry, long rides, early alarms, and still show up smiling… we see you. ā¤ļø

The Triathlon Moms of MiTri are a different breed. Tough when they need to be. Supportive always. The first to cheer for others while quietly crushing their own goals before most people are awake.

They train through busy seasons of life.
They race with heart.
They inspire their kids, teammates, training partners, and this entire community.

From Bike Lab mornings…
to TCTC runs…
to open water swims…
to race day finish lines…

Thank you for showing us what grit, balance, strength, and joy really look like.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing triathlon moms in the MiTri Tribe. We’re lucky to train beside you.
