All too often, the moment you announce your pregnancy, people are QUICK to overwhelm you with their horror stories. Suddenly, instead of feeling excited about what’s ahead, you’re filled with fear, and fear can rob you of the moments that should be full of joy.
Or maybe you experienced the exact opposite. Maybe someone gave you a sugarcoated, fairytale version of pregnancy, birth, or postpartum. They were probably well meaning, but they weren’t completely honest. So you romanticized what your experience was going to be like, only to be completely caught off guard and unprepared when things got hard.

I never want you to be lied to. Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can be hard, uncomfortable, and messy. But they can also be exciting, full of joy, and filled with moments you’ll never want to forget.
My goal is that you would feel prepared for both. One of my FAVORITE things is when a client talks about how excited they are after a prenatal visit. Preparing for the hard moments makes room for the joyful ones. It’s both/and, not either/or.

Hear me out.
The hours and days immediately following birth are precious and should be guarded. They’re so crucial for bonding and healing. So I’m definitely not saying that there needs to be a revolving door of anybody and everybody who wants to meet the baby.
BUT complete isolation can be detrimental to your experience, not to mention your mental health.
There have to be boundaries in place that still allow the right visitors to come in and support you.
The right visitors will bring a meal, do a chore, listen while you process, and leave you better than they found you.
You need people in this season. You just need the people who will love you well.
