🌸 When you start hormone therapy may matter—not just for menopause symptoms, but potentially for long-term brain health.

A new study highlighted by People followed 180,000 postmenopausal women and found an association between hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and a lower risk of dementia. The greatest benefit was seen among women who began HRT between ages 46 and 56. Overall, HRT users had a 10% lower dementia risk and a 16% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease compared with non-users.

This is especially interesting because HRT has traditionally been used to help women manage menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats and sleep difficulties. Researchers say these new findings add to growing evidence that the effects of hormone therapy may depend on when treatment begins and a woman’s individual health factors.

At Magnolia Health, we believe that's an important message: hormone therapy isn't one-size-fits-all.

If you're experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause, Brooke Golwas, APRN-CNP, and Kelsie Estes, APRN-WHNP, can help you understand what's happening, evaluate your symptoms and health history, and discuss whether hormone therapy or another treatment option may be appropriate for you.

💗 Don't wait until symptoms become overwhelming to start the conversation about menopause and your long-term health.

Taking HRT, or hormone replacement therapy, during menopause can reduce the risk of developing dementia — but it depends on when you start taking it.

🌸 Could changing hormones be affecting how you feel?

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect women in very different ways. Sometimes the symptoms are obvious, while others can be easy to dismiss as stress, lack of sleep, or simply getting older.

Some common symptoms associated with changing hormone levels include:

🔥 Hot flashes & night sweats
😴 Sleep problems
🌸 Vaginal dryness
💕 Changes in libido
🧠 Brain fog & difficulty concentrating

At Magnolia Health, you don't have to figure it out on your own. Brooke Golwas, APRN-CNP, and Kelsie Estes, APRN-WHNP, can evaluate your symptoms, discuss your health history and help determine what may be contributing to the way you're feeling.

The goal isn't simply to treat a lab number—it's to understand you, your symptoms, and your health goals and find the treatment approach that's right for you.

💗 Don't dismiss how you're feeling as "just getting older." Start the conversation.

🌸 Could it be perimenopause?

Perimenopause can begin earlier than many women realize, and the symptoms aren’t always obvious. A recent Healthline article explores some of the signs women may experience as hormones begin to change.

Hot flashes may get most of the attention, but perimenopause can also bring:

✨ Changes in your menstrual cycle
😴 Trouble sleeping
💗 Mood changes or increased anxiety
🧠 Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
💕 Changes in libido
🌸 Vaginal dryness
🦴 Joint aches and other physical changes

The important thing to remember is that you don’t have to simply accept feeling different as “part of getting older.”

At Magnolia Health, our providers take the time to listen to what you're experiencing, evaluate your symptoms, and discuss treatment options that may help—including hormone therapy when appropriate.

Not sure where to begin? Start with a simple question: “Could I be in perimenopause?”

💗 We’re here to help you find answers and feel like yourself again.

💗 **Women’s health is changing—and 2026 is bringing important conversations to the forefront.**

This article takes a look at some of the women’s health issues getting increased attention, including **menopause care and hormone therapy, breast cancer screening and prevention, and the importance of more individualized healthcare for women.**

One of the biggest shifts is the conversation surrounding **menopause and hormone therapy**. After years of uncertainty and fear surrounding HRT, newer research and longer-term data are helping women and their healthcare providers have a more nuanced conversation about its potential benefits and risks. For many women under 60 experiencing bothersome menopausal symptoms, the benefits of hormone therapy can outweigh the risks.

The article also highlights the evolving approach to **breast cancer screening and risk assessment**. For example, women with dense breast tissue may benefit from a more individualized discussion about whether additional screening beyond a mammogram is appropriate.

At **Magnolia Health**, this is exactly the kind of healthcare we believe women deserve: care that evolves with the science and takes into account **your symptoms, your risks, your goals and your stage of life.**

From annual wellness visits and preventive care to **perimenopause, menopause and hormone management**, our team is here to listen and help you make informed decisions about your health.

🌸 Don’t simply accept “it’s part of getting older” when you know something has changed. Start the conversation.
