Your blood pressure matters just as much after birth as it did during pregnancy. 🤍

Postpartum high blood pressure and postpartum preeclampsia can happen days or even weeks after delivery even if your pregnancy and birth seemed “normal.” That’s why learning how to properly check your blood pressure at home is so important.

✨ Tips for checking your blood pressure correctly:
• Sit quietly for 5 minutes before checking
• Keep both feet flat on the floor
• Rest your arm at heart level
• Avoid talking during the reading
• Use the correct cuff size
• Take your blood pressure around the same times each day and keep a log

🚨 Seek medical care immediately if you experience:
• Severe headache
• Vision changes
• Swelling that suddenly worsens
• Chest pain or shortness of breath
• Blood pressure readings of 140/90 or higher
• Readings of 160/110 or higher are considered an emergency

Postpartum care is still healthcare. Don’t ignore the signs, and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself. 💜

We want to sincerely thank our community for participating in our grief discussion and for openly sharing your experiences, reflections, and truths about grief.

Your honesty reminded us that grief looks different for everyone, has no timeline, and deserves compassion, patience, and support. Thank you for sharing what you wish others understood and the things that helped carry you through difficult seasons. Whether it was prayer and journaling to community, therapy, support groups, and simply having safe people to lean on.

These conversations matter. Your stories create space for healing, connection, and hope for others walking similar journeys. Thank you for trusting us with your voices.

This Memorial Day, community care showed up in a big way. 💛

WAWC Healthcare was grateful to work alongside Yellowhammer Fund during today’s community distribution to help provide families and community members with diapers, wipes, adult briefs, menstrual supplies, toiletries, and free food.

Access to essentials matters and so does showing up for one another with dignity, compassion, and support. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible for our community.
