Meet Dr. Haris Rehman!

Dr. Rehman is originally from Lexington, Massachusetts. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and went on to receive his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. His clinical interests include addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, sleep medicine, and consultation-liaison psychiatry.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Rehman enjoys staying active by going on walks, exploring local communities with friends and family, and keeping in touch with loved ones—especially his brother—through online gaming.

He was drawn to psychiatry because it sits at the intersection of science, relationships, and society. He is particularly interested in how technology continues to shape mental health, both positively and negatively, and hopes to help patients develop healthier relationships with the digital tools they use.

Dr. Rehman chose this program because of its exceptional learning opportunities and supportive environment. After connecting with Dr. Reeves and completing a visiting student rotation, he was impressed by the kindness and dedication of the faculty and GME administration. His experience confirmed that this is a place where he can grow as a clinician while making a meaningful impact on the community.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine hosted a faculty and staff Q&A panel addressing key topics across the mental health spectrum, including caregiver support, child and adolescent care, and complex psychiatric conditions.

These discussions demonstrate the collaborative, community-focused approach to training our residents will experience come July.

Join a program where these conversations shape your training and your future in psychiatry!

Nurses Week may be ending, but the appreciation is forever!

Our University Medical Center nurses got a little extra “therapy” this week thanks to our friends from Hand in Paw—and safe to say, tails were wagging and smiles were everywhere! 🐾

Thank you for all you do, every single day!

We’re excited to launch our inpatient psychiatry teaching service at North Harbor, the 54‑bed psychiatric unit at DCH Northport. With Dr. Reeves, program director, and Dr. Burns, associate program director, serving as the inpatient attendings, our residents will train in a setting that plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing mental health crises across western Alabama.
