🎵Residents living at The Blake at Tyler Memory Care recently participated in Tiffany’s Music Therapy Hand Band program, an engaging experience designed to support cognitive stimulation, social connection, purposeful movement, emotional well-being, and joy through the power of music.

This evidence-based program was developed and facilitated by Tiffany Clements, Care Program Development, Education, and Outreach Specialist for Home-Aid Caregivers. Tiffany specializes in creating innovative, evidence-based dementia care programs tailored to the unique needs of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. She serves as Home-Aid Caregivers’ on-staff CARES Dementia Specialist and is one of only 34 CARES Dementia Specialists in Texas.

Through specialized programs like Music Therapy Hand Band, Tiffany combines research-based practices with meaningful engagement to create moments of connection, purpose, success, and joy for those living with dementia.

🌺 Aloha from the Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County Day Club! 🌺

Participants have been enjoying Chair Hula lessons set to the timeless Hawaiian favorite Pearly Shells all while telling a story through movement. Through music, movement, rhythm, and laughter, these sessions encourage physical activity, social connection, and meaningful engagement in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for those living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia—all while donning Hawaiian leis, donated by Home-Aid, to get our friends in the hula spirit.

The Chair Hula program was developed and taught by Tiffany Clements, Care Program Development, Education, and Outreach Specialist for Home-Aid Caregivers. As Home-Aid’s on-staff CARES Dementia Specialist—one of only 34 in Texas—Tiffany is passionate about creating evidence-based programs that help individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias experience joy, connection, purpose, and success.

The fun began during Terrific Tuesday Day Club and continued today, with more Chair Hula lessons planned for tomorrow!

Thank you to the Alzheimer’s Alliance Day Club for allowing Home-Aid Caregivers to share in these special moments and support those living with dementia through meaningful engagement and compassionate care.

🌸 PINK PETAL Pathway Video Series – Week 4: Adapt Creatively 🌸

One of the most powerful skills in dementia care is learning to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

What makes perfect sense to us may feel confusing, frightening, or overwhelming to a person living with dementia. When we step outside of our own box and become curious about their experience, we can often discover new ways to communicate, connect, and provide support.

This week’s PINK PETAL Pathway video explores Adapt Creatively—the ability to adjust our approach, our expectations, and our environment to meet the person where they are. Sometimes the key to success isn’t changing the person; it’s changing the way we respond.

When we learn to see through their eyes, we open the door to greater understanding, less frustration, and more meaningful moments of connection.

💐 Join us as we continue exploring practical, compassionate approaches to dementia care through the Home-Bloom Dementia Pathway. New PINK PETAL Pathway videos are released every Tuesday on the Home-Aid Caregivers page.

🌸 PINK PETAL Pathway Video Series – Week 3: Trust Before Task 🌸

Before we can provide care, we must first build trust and connection.

For a person living with dementia, a caregiver approaching too quickly, giving instructions, or focusing only on the task can feel confusing or overwhelming. When we take a moment to slow down, introduce ourselves, offer reassurance, and connect person-to-person, we create a foundation of trust that makes care easier and more successful.

This week’s PINK PETAL Pathway video explores Trust Before Task—the idea that relationships come before routines and connection comes before care. When trust is present, we can often reduce resistance, ease anxiety, and preserve dignity while accomplishing the task at hand.

Join us as we continue exploring practical, compassionate approaches to dementia care through the Home-Bloom Dementia Pathway.

New PINK PETAL Pathway videos are released every Tuesday in June on the Home-Aid Caregivers page.
