There’s something really hard about reaching your due date after loss.

For months, you can still imagine it all…
what it would feel like, what life would look like.

And then suddenly, you’re at the point where your baby should be here…
and there’s nothing left to picture.

Just questions you’ll never have answers to.

If you’ve experienced pregnancy loss—especially around your due date—
you’re not alone in this feeling. 🤍

About 35% of labors in the U.S. are induced.

That’s more than 1 in 3 births.

Do we really believe that 35% of women couldn’t go into labor on their own and birth their babies? Or is something bigger going on in how we approach pregnancy and birth today?

Induction absolutely has its place in modern maternity care when there are true medical indications. But this rise is happening globally—not just in the U.S.—and it raises important questions about how we define ‘necessary’ intervention, risk, and timing in pregnancy.

As always, the goal is informed choice: understanding why something is recommended, what the alternatives are, and what waiting might look like when mom and baby are stable 🤍

Yes, you can decline induction.

While induction can absolutely be the right and necessary choice in some situations, it’s also being recommended more and more—sometimes without full context or urgency.

You always have the right to ask questions, understand the reason, and take time to make the decision that feels right for you and your baby (as long as things are medically stable).

Informed consent goes both ways 🤍

Part 2: the answer is… fatigue 😴

Up to 94–95% of pregnant women experience it—especially in the 1st and 3rd trimester.

In early pregnancy, rising hormones (hello progesterone) can make you feel completely wiped.
And in the third trimester, your body is carrying more weight, working harder, and prepping for birth.

If you’re exhausted… there’s a reason.
Rest is not a luxury right now—it’s necessary 🤍

94–95% of pregnant women experience this symptom…

Do you think you know what it is? 👀

Drop your guess in the comments ⬇️
I’ll reveal the answer (and what it actually means for your body) in part 2.

Hint: it’s super common, but not talked about enough—and a lot of moms don’t even realize there’s a reason behind it. 🤍

Is your baby actually ‘too big’? Probably not.

Ultrasound weight estimates are just that—estimates. They’re not a scale.

Research shows they can be off by ±10–15% on average, and sometimes even more—especially at the end of pregnancy.

That means a baby estimated at 9 lbs could realistically be closer to 7.5… or over 10.

And here’s the part no one talks about enough:
A “big baby” alone is not automatically a medical reason for induction.

Your body and your baby are designed to work together.
Babies come in different sizes, and many people birth larger babies without issue—especially when labor starts on its own.

You deserve full information, not fear-based decisions.
Ask questions. Know the margin of error. Make the choice that feels right for you 🤍

If you’re hoping for an unmedicated birth, this is something to think about 🤍

Induction can sometimes start what’s known as the cascade of interventions—where one intervention leads to another, which can make it more challenging to stay unmedicated.

For example, medications used to induce labor can lead to stronger, more intense contractions, which can increase the likelihood of needing pain management. From there, more interventions can follow.

It’s also important to know:
Some people don’t consider an induced birth “unmedicated,” while others do—especially depending on the method used.

There are also ways to help start or encourage labor that don’t involve medications, like membrane sweeps or having your water broken manually. These can also trigger the cascade of interventions.

The goal is to be informed so you can advocate for the kind of birth experience you’re hoping for.

This isn’t about fear—it’s about understanding your options and walking into birth feeling confident, not caught off guard.
