This year’s event is extra special as the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association celebrates 50 years of advancing the OT profession. This was a very special day when we were able to partner with FR Conversions, LLC and St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need Foundation to support our friend Jeffery.

Congratulations Jeffery! We will see you out on the road! 🛣️♿️❤️

Meet Jeffrey, our newest St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need recipient.
Jeffrey is a very joyful 33-year-old living with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, a progressive genetic condition that has significantly limited his ability to walk, use his arms, and manage daily activities. Despite these challenges and the chronic pain he experiences, Jeffrey continues to bring happiness to everyone around him everyday. We were so blessed by his laughter and gratitude.

The Saint Nicholas Neighbor Need Foundation was able to provide a handicap-accessible vehicle for Jeffery and his family in June. Having the van has provided Jeffery with greater independence, dignity, and more opportunities to get out into his community to serve the Lord with his contagious smile! Praise God!!

Special thank you to Dawn Dodson from FR Conversions, and Superior Van and Mobility, who went out of their way to make this all possible in a very timely manner. We are deeply grateful for our generous donors whose kindness enables the St. Nicholas Neighbor in Need Foundation to help families like Jeffrey’s. Your generosity truly changes lives.

Former Rutgers University football player Eric LeGrand sustained a spinal cord injury during a game in 2010.

Now he works as a motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and sports analyst. LeGrand is able to keep up with his busy schedule thanks to his wheelchair accessible Chrysler Pacifica.

Meeting people who are breaking barriers and redefining what’s possible is one of the best parts of what we do here at Superior Van & Mobility.

We recently had the opportunity to meet Marley Robinson, a member of Volt Hockey, and learn more about this incredible sport that’s creating new opportunities for athletes with limited upper and lower body mobility.

The United States Volt Hockey Association celebrates a fast-paced 3v3 sport that combines elements of go-karting and hockey. Players use specialized motorized chairs equipped with paddles to move a wiffle ball around a basketball court. The chairs can be customized to each athlete’s needs and reach speeds of up to 10 mph!

But what stood out to us most wasn’t the speed. It was the independence, competition, teamwork, and pure joy that Volt Hockey brings to its players.

Let’s Talk About Accessible Parking Spots. 🅿️♿🚐

If you drive a wheelchair-accessible van, you know that an accessible parking space is about more than simply having a closer spot.

It’s about having enough room to get in and out safely.

That striped access aisle next to the space? You may need it to deploy your ramp or lift. You may need extra clearance to maneuver a wheelchair.

And you may need that space simply to make sure you and your passenger can safely get where you’re going.

Accessible parking is access.

Please help protect it:
🚫 Don’t park in an accessible space without the proper permit.
🚫 Never block the striped access aisle.
🚫 Give wheelchair-accessible vans the space they need to deploy ramps and lifts.

🚐 And remember: not every mobility need is visible.

For wheelchair van drivers, a few extra feet can make all the difference.

Let’s keep accessible parking accessible and keep everyone moving. ♿️❤️
