✨ 3 options for vegans when attending a wedding ✨
1. Always communicate your dietary needs to the bride & groom!
- check if accommodations can be made, BUT you definitely don’t want them to have to adjust their menu for you (the night is about them, not you) however, in many cases it’s quite easy for the caterer to produce a vegan option with existing ingredients, without having to create something entirely new!
2. If #1 is not possible, EAT BEFORE!!
- The last thing you want to do is attend a wedding on an empty stomach. You need to have food in your belly so that you can last the night comfortably, have energy to dance, and most importantly, so you don’t drink alcohol on an empty stomach!
3. Bring your own: depending on the type of the wedding, the bride & groom might tell you that the caterer cannot accommodate for vegans (sometimes the wedding is a buffet style meaning they can’t product a personalized meal in the kitchen). In this case, the bride and groom may ask you to bring a small meal for you, or you can offer to bring your own. I actually did this at my brother’s wedding in Brazil several years ago when eating plant-based was not common.
📸 we attended the wedding of our dear friends this weekend, and they were incredible to accommodate my dietary needs! The kitchen made me a vegan risoto with peas + mushrooms and I was so full and happy! Grateful for the beautiful bride ❤️
👉🏼 Conclusion: Always be prepared, never skip a meal and when in doubt, eat before attending any long event!
