CAPE Coalition Substance Misuse Awareness, Prevention and Education Coalition on the Iron Range of MN
PCN Grant Funded

The Chemical Awareness, Prevention, and Education (CAPE) Coalition is a group of professionals and community members from around the quad cities’ region working to address the entire continuum of health around substance use, from prevention through recovery. We work together to raise awareness, correct misperceptions regarding use rates, increase education, and reduce stigma that may inhibit recovery. We see the good that exists in our communities, and work to grow it.

Today, on 💜International Overdose Awareness Day💜, we remember every person lost to overdose and recognize the grief carried by families, friends, and communities. The day also calls us to action by expanding awareness and sharing lifesaving information that can help prevent overdose. 2 of the most important steps to preventing overdose deaths include knowing the signs & symptoms of an overdose & carrying naloxone. Wondering where to pick up free naloxone near you? Visit https://steverummlerhopenetwork.org/what-we-do/naloxone-access-points/

Bitter sweet grand finale to the past 5 years with this crew. We are so grateful for the opportunities the PCN grant has provided our community. Thank you to the The Montana Institute for fueling our passion and teaching us the importance of the science of the positive. We see the good that exists in our communities, and we will continue to grow it long after the grant is gone 💕

We salute you Minnesota Cohort 4! The theme for our gathering last week was “We can never step into the same river twice because we are different and so is the river.” These 9 communities have experienced real transformation over the past 5 years of implementing the Minnesota PCN grant. Most students are making healthy and safe choices when it comes to NOT using substances, most students support each other in those choices, AND most students now accurately perceive these norms! The data, the stories, the heart of these communities is remarkable. The communities are truly experiencing the POSITIVE! We look forward to sharing more stories and more data from Minnesota Cohort 4 communities, but for now WE SALUTE YOU, C4, and are so honored to have had the privilege of being part of your journey!!
