Highs I’ll be riding into the weekend

Today was one of those days that reminded me exactly why I love pelvic health OT.

A few of today’s wins:

Three clients with pelvic pain left their sessions feeling better than when they walked in.

A new client told me she finally feels heard and listened to after her evaluation.

A client with stress urinary incontinence was already noticing less leakage after just one visit.

Are these things that should make me celebrate? Absolutely.

Because pelvic health care isn’t just about changing symptoms. It’s about helping someone feel heard, understood, more comfortable in their body, and more confident in their everyday life.

And sometimes, the smallest changes are the biggest wins.

Ending the day feeling very grateful for the people who trust me with their care. Can’t wait to see what next week brings, THANK YOU for trusting me with your care. ❤️

A saliva test for endometriosis sounds like it could be a game changer—but are we there yet?

A new 2026 study evaluated Endotest, a saliva-based test that looks at microRNA patterns associated with endometriosis.

Researchers compared the test with laparoscopic findings in 134 women. The test detected 78% of participants who had endometriosis, but its specificity was only 33%, meaning there were also a substantial number of false-positive results.

For deep infiltrating endometriosis, the test performed even less well, with 49% diagnostic accuracy compared with higher accuracy from MRI and transvaginal ultrasound in this study.

So, while a non-invasive diagnostic test for endometriosis would be incredibly valuable, this study suggests that saliva testing is not yet ready to replace clinical evaluation and imaging—or serve as a standalone diagnostic tool.

This is a great example of why we need to look beyond the headline. Promising research does not always mean a test is ready for clinical use.

If you’re thinking about fertility, don’t forget about the other half of the equation.

A new review published in the Journal of Psychosexual Health looked at what we currently know about microplastics and male reproductive health.

Microplastics have been detected in human semen and testicular tissue, and research suggests they may contribute to oxidative stress, changes in s***m quality, DNA fragmentation, and disruption of reproductive hormones.

But here’s the important part: this does NOT mean we can say that microplastics cause infertility. This was a review of existing human and animal research, and much more high-quality human research is needed.

Still, it raises an important question: could our everyday environmental exposures be one piece of the fertility puzzle?

We can’t eliminate every exposure, and I don’t believe fertility care should be about fear or restriction. But there are reasonable ways to reduce unnecessary exposure—like avoiding heating food and beverages in plastic, choosing glass or stainless steel when practical, and reducing reliance on single-use plastics.

Fertility is complex. There is rarely one single cause, and there is rarely one magic solution.

An appreciation post for my wonderful husband, 4 months ago I decided to take the leap into opening my own practice. After a stressful couple of years in my old role, it was a welcomed change but scary nonetheless. He is one of the reasons HerPath OT exists as it is today, so thank you for pushing me to pursue my dreams and motivating me on the days I question if it was the right choice. Here’s to improving women’s health and never settling! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds! Thank you also to my wonderful clients, you are with me as I learn and grow as an OT and a business owner, your support is just everything to me! Also shout out to the amazing AG Photos thank you for capturing such precious moments of our family ❤️
