Burnout is more than feeling stressed or tired.

According to burnout researcher Christina Maslach, burnout shows up in three key ways:

🌊 Emotional Exhaustion
🌊 Depersonalization (detachment and cynicism)
🌊 Reduced Personal Accomplishment

When burnout takes hold, you may feel drained, disconnected from people and work, and begin questioning your impact or effectiveness.

Recognizing these signs is the first step toward recovery. If these experiences feel familiar, know that you’re not alone and support is available.

When the Storm Passes, Healing Continues. 🌺

Disasters don’t end when the winds calm or the fires are extinguished.

For many, the emotional impact lingers long after the immediate danger has passed. You may notice increased anxiety, difficulty sleeping, hypervigilance, grief, sadness, or a feeling that you’re still waiting for the next emergency.

These are normal responses to abnormal events.

Whether you’ve been affected by hurricanes, wildfires, evacuations, or the uncertainty that follows, you don’t have to carry the weight alone.

Healing happens one step, one conversation, and one moment of self-compassion at a time.

💚 It’s okay to ask for support.

💚 It’s okay to not be “back to normal.”

💚 It’s okay to prioritize your mental health.

If you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, grief, or trauma related to recent disasters, we’re here to support you.

🌿 A Gentle Reminder About Rest

In a culture where being busy is often valued, it can be easy to feel like rest needs to be earned.

What might it be like to make space for rest today, even for a few moments?

Take a pause. Breathe deeply. Feel the warmth of the sun, listen to the waves, or simply notice the stillness around you.

Maui’s natural beauty can serve as a reminder to slow down, be present, and check in with yourself. Consider giving yourself permission to take a break without attaching it to what you’ve accomplished.

✨ A moment to pause.
✨ A moment to breathe.
✨ A moment to reconnect with yourself.

Watch the sunrise. Walk a little slower. Sit by the ocean. Notice what’s here right now.

🍎 Back-to-School Stress: Signs Your Teen May Be Struggling

Starting a new school year can feel overwhelming for many teens, even when they don’t talk about it. New routines, academic pressure, social challenges, and changing expectations can create stress that shows up in ways parents might not immediately recognize.

Some signs your teen may be having a hard time include:

• Withdrawing from friends or family
• Excessive worry or overthinking
• Increased irritability or emotional ups and downs
• Difficulty concentrating or completing tasks
• Trouble sleeping or changes in appetite
• Avoiding schoolwork or losing motivation
• Friendship struggles or fear of being judged by others

These behaviors aren’t always attitude problems or laziness. Often, they’re signs that a teen is feeling overwhelmed and may need extra support.

Therapy can provide a safe space for teens to explore what’s going on beneath the surface, learn healthy coping skills, and build confidence as they navigate life’s challenges.

If your teen is struggling with the transition back to school, you’re not alone. Support can make a meaningful difference for both your teen and your family.
