48.
That’s how many of our neighbors we believe could survive cancer each year, if where they live didn’t stand in the way.
Every week, 17 people in Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield and Umatilla counties hear the words “you have cancer.” That’s nearly 900 a year. And in rural communities like ours, people die of cancer at a rate 18% higher than people in America’s cities.
It isn’t because our neighbors are any less strong. Out here, cancer is more often found late, specialists can be hours away, and the cost of gas, lodging and missed paychecks forces hard choices about treatment.
Closing that gap could mean 48 more lives every year. That’s 48 more moms, dads, grandparents, coaches and friends.
That’s why we started Blue Mountain Cancer Foundation. By joining our Harvest Circle, starting at $25/month, less than a dollar a day, you help fund local cancer screenings and help patients get to and through treatment. Every dollar raised here stays here.
