As the month of April ends here is our last round of did you know in honor of bringing awareness to Parkinson’s !

Rehabilitation should begin immediately after a Parkinson’s diagnosis 🧠✨ Early intervention isn’t just helpful—it’s powerful. Starting rehab early has been shown to improve long-term functional outcomes, giving individuals the tools they need to stay active, independent, and confident over time 💪

It also helps establish a strong baseline early on 📊—making it easier to track changes, adapt care, and address challenges as symptoms evolve.

For those living with Parkinson’s, a well-rounded therapy approach is key:

🏃‍♂️ Physical Therapy to support movement, strength, and balance
🖐 Occupational Therapy to maintain independence in daily activities
🗣 Speech Therapy to address communication and swallowing challenges

Each plays an equally important role in managing the condition and improving quality of life.

Finding the right care team early on 🤝 can make all the difference—helping with prevention, building resilience, and navigating the day-to-day challenges that may arise.
Early action = better outcome. Don’t wait to get the support you deserve 💙

Welcome back to week 3 of our little did you know about Parkinson’s! Hope you learn a little more about PD as we head into the weekend ☺️

Exercise is a game-changer for people living with Parkinson’s. It can improve balance, mobility, strength, and coordination—while also supporting brain health and potentially slowing the progression of symptoms.

To get the most benefit, intensity matters. Exercise that elevates your heart rate challenges the nervous system in a deeper way, helping drive neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to adapt and form new connections. This is especially important in Parkinson’s, where those connections need extra support.

Higher-intensity workouts don’t just strengthen muscles—they train the brain to work more efficiently, improving movement, reaction time, and overall function.

Move with purpose. Get your heart rate up. ❤️‍🔥

We are back for week 2 of a little Did You Know in honor of Parkinson’s. Although there is no cure there is both medical management and exercise as the main forms of treatment to maintain the long term independence for those with Parkinson’s.

It is also important to remember that there are non motor symptoms that affect the day to day activity for those managing PD. Non-motor symptoms can be just as impactful as the motor symptoms.

Exercise positively impacts both the motor and non motor symptoms that present with Parkinson’s.

Hope this weeks info gives people a little more to know and stay tuned for next weeks Did You Know for Parkinson’s !

Happy weekend 😊

When looking for PT consider all your options. In-Home Physical therapy is a great option for these reasons:

Receiving skilled services in an area of familiarity and comfort often times can give you the confidence and comfortability to work with a PT.

When working with PT in your home you are directly working on the day to day tasks and functions that are most limited and affect your everyday life.

When a PT is coming to your home there is only one option, One to one care which is ideal for greater outcomes in progress.

When there are things such as time constraints, transportations limitations, and other challenges with getting to an outpatient clinic, In home PT is the best option for you.

Receiving in home PT will not only impact your impairments and function, but it allows for the PT to assess your home and provide recommendations on ways to improve home safety and reduce risk of falls.

In-home PT allows for direct interaction and education with family/caregivers to allow the opportunity for family to be engaged and interactive with patient care.

For all these reasons and more get informed and see if In home physical therapy is right for you!

When it comes to managing Parkinson’s, exercise is one of the key components to treatment and maintaining your quality of life.

Aerobic exercise 🏃: can consist of walking, cycling, running, elliptical, just to name of few options and it is great for neuroplasticity in the brain.

Strength training 🏋️: great for power and strength for day to day activities. You can use machines, dumbbells, resistance bands, kettlebells, body weight all of which are great options for strength training. You can progress or alternate with repetition changes as well as adding or lowering resistance levels.

Balance training ⚖️: looking to maintain balance, options such as yoga or tai chi are great choices for balance training. Maintaining our balance is key for safety with our everyday activities.

Stretching 🙆‍♂️: For those with Parkinson’s, rigidity and stiffness are common complaints. Performing routine stretches to reduce the stiffness and rigidity and maintain posture should be a key part of your exercise routine. A great additive is incorporating breathing into these stretches.

With all this in mind if you are unsure of where to start when it comes to exercising or have limitations affecting your day to day function start with a Physical Therapist to evaluate you and get you started !!
