There is something inherently comical about watching a line of Chihuahuas sprint down the DC pier.

They are focused, determined, and running with everything their tiny legs have—all for a prize they’ll likely forget in five minutes.

It’s a lighthearted scene, but as I stood there watching, it felt strangely familiar.

In my 25 years in psychology and as an NYU trained counselor in DC, I have spent decades watching a different kind of race.

I see high-achieving professionals sprinting through the District, eyes locked on the next promotion, the next accolade, or the next "win."
But unlike these dogs, we often forget to ask what we’re actually running TOWARD.

We get caught in the DC GRIND, sprinting on a treadmill of expectations that someone else built.

We call it "success," but if you are running until you’re breathless without a sense of PURPOSE, you aren’t winning—you’re just STUCK in a loop.

Making the "hustle" the villain is easy. But the real trap is when you identify as a casualty of the race instead of the AUTHOR of your own pace.

As a classically trained behaviorist, I help women RE-CODE their relationship with the DC "rat race."

We use BRAINSPOTTING and IFS to look at the survival patterns that tell you that stopping is dangerous.

We remind your nervous system that you have the ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY to change your stride.

You can choose to be a miniature racer in someone else's marathon, or you can EMPOWER yourself to lead your own life.

Slay the need for constant validation.

Triumph over the fear of slowing down.

In a city like Washington, DC, professionals treat stress like a character flaw.

We think if we were just more efficient, more disciplined, or more organized, we could somehow outrun the pressure. We treat "stress-free" as the ultimate destination.

But STRESS IS NOT THE ENEMY. Stress is UNAVOIDABLE.

If you are living a life of impact, if you are leading in your field, and if you are pushing boundaries, stress is simply the atmosphere of the arena.

In my 25 years in psychology and as an NYU trained counselor in DC, I have seen that the goal isn't to build a shield against the world—it’s to learn how to stay afloat when the waves get high.

Stress won't take you under, but a lack of BALANCE and PURPOSE will.

Balance is your biological rudder. It is the sophisticated awareness of when to PUSH FORWARD and when to SLOW DOWN.

It’s knowing that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause, and sometimes the most healing thing you can do is take decisive action.

Without balance, you aren't the leader you strive to be; you’re just a machine running until the gears seize.

And we all know...in the high-pressure environment of DC, machines are easily replaced.

Purpose is the "why" that keeps your head above water. Without it, the grind is just a repetitive loop of STRESS and RESENTMENT.

How long can you actually keep up the pace when you’ve forgotten what you’re running toward?

I work with high-achieving women every day who have mastered the art of the "hustle" but have lost their sense of meaning.

When you lose your purpose, even the smallest stressor can feel like a VILLAIN designed to break you.

As a classically trained behaviorist, I help you RE-CODE these responses. We use BRAINSPOTTING and IFS to bypass the noise of the "to-do list" and get to the root of what is keeping you STUCK.
