People treated at community oncology practices are more than just a patient. They are friends, neighbors, and valued members of the community.

WFXB FOX TV in Myrtle Beach, S.C., recently highlighted Dr. Emily Touloukian and her staff at Coastal Cancer Center. The reporter’s mother and a colleague’s spouse were both treated at Coastal Cancer Center. As Dr. Touloukian shares: “I always say cancer care is a team sport. You don’t have just a doctor, an oncologist, or a surgeon… We have all kinds of people coming together to take care of cancer patients. Because that’s really our focus.”

Advocacy is community oncology’s beating heart, and there are few better examples of this than Dr. Harsha Vyas, founder, president, and CEO of the Cancer Center of Middle Georgia and co-chair of CPAN.

Dr. Vyas’ trust-building with patients has fueled his passion for patient care and advocacy in the nearly 15 years since founding the Cancer Center of Middle Georgia. From opening the practice to operating middle Georgia’s only independent, multi-service office with more than 30 staff, it’s the relationships that keep him going.
