Glycemic index (GI) ranks food on a scale of 0-100. The low numbers have little effect on blood sugar levels while high numbers have big effect on it.

A low-GI diet will have foods that have low GI values.

Low GI: 1 to 55
Medium GI: 56 to 69
High GI: 70 and higher

* Low GI : Green vegetables, most fruits, raw carrots, kidney beans, chickpeas and lentils.
* Medium GI : Sweet corn, bananas, raw pineapple, raisins, cherries, oat breakfast cereals, and multigrain, whole-grain wheat or rye bread.
* High GI : White rice, white bread and potatoes.

Studies of low GI diets indicate that a low-GI diet may help you to lose weight, lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It can help in lowering your risk of heart diseases and diabetes.

Did you know that hibiscus tea, popularly known as Zobo drink has been studied for its potential to help lower blood pressure naturally?

Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants called anthocyanins and polyphenols, which may help relax blood vessels and support heart health. Some studies have shown that drinking hibiscus tea regularly can help reduce systolic blood pressure in adults with hypertension.

A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that consuming hibiscus tea lowered blood pressure in adults with mild hypertension.
(McKay DL et al., 2010, Journal of Nutrition).

⚠️
If you have LOW blood pressure or you are taking blood pressure medications, drink hibiscus tea/Zobo with caution and speak with your healthcare provider, as it may lower blood pressure further.

⚠️ Important:
If you have LOW blood sugar, diabetes, or are taking blood sugar medications, use hibiscus tea with caution and monitor your levels closely, as it may contribute to lowering blood sugar further.
