During a humanitarian visit to a pediatric hospital in Havana, Cuba, Muhammad Ali was about to leave when he noticed a young boy sitting alone in a hospital room. His arm was heavily bandaged, and while other children played together, he quietly watched from a distance.
Ali stepped inside and began joking with him, throwing playful shadowboxing moves and making the boy laugh. As they talked, Ali learned that the child had lost his father and that his family was struggling to pay for his treatment.
Before leaving, Ali quietly turned to his assistant and said:
""Find out what the boy's hospital bill is... and take care of it.""
He never asked for recognition and never told the boy what he had done.
That's who Muhammad Ali was. The world saw a champion in the ring, but many children remembered him as a man whose greatest punches were thrown with kindness.
