La’Kisha Cole | Lung Cancer Survivor | Faith Over Fear

When you hear the word cancer, most people think death sentence. I’m living proof that it’s not. I am a fourteen-year lung cancer survivor. Out of every 14 people diagnosed with lung cancer, I was the one who beat it—by the grace of God, my faith, and the prayers of my family and friends. In 2011, doctors told me I needed emergency surgery to

remove a tumor from my left bronchial tube. If the tumor had been any lower, my entire left lung would have been removed. After leaving the doctor’s office, I talked to God. I told Him I was scared, but I also told Him I chose to live. On the day of my surgery, doctors said I would be in the operating room for 4–6 hours. I didn’t reach recovery until late that night. Less than 24 hours after surgery—with tubes in my side and pain in my body—I heard a voice telling me to get up and walk. Every step I took was a reminder that the enemy did not win. The doctors removed all the cancer and saved my lung. No radiation. What was supposed to take 1–2 years to heal was completely healed in just five months. My doctor said he had never seen anything like it before. I told him, “Then you don’t know my God.”

I share my story to remind others that faith is powerful, healing is possible, and your diagnosis does not define your destiny. If God can do this for me, imagine what He can do in your life.

🤍 MONDAY HOPE 🤍

Sometimes the hardest part of a journey is not knowing what comes next.

The next scan.

The next appointment.

The next treatment.

The next set of results.

The next chapter of life.

But I've learned something during my 15 years as a lung cancer survivor:

I don't have to have the whole journey figured out today.

I just have to keep going. 🤍

One day at a time.

One appointment at a time.

One prayer at a time. 🙏🏽

One moment at a time.

If you're facing uncertainty today, I hope you give yourself permission to focus on what's directly in front of you.

You don't have to carry tomorrow's worries today.

And when the road feels heavy, remember there is a community here ready to remind you:

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. 🤍

So as we begin another week, my message is simple:

Keep going.

Keep believing.

Keep living.

Keep loving.

And keep making room for hope. 🤍

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer.

If you know someone who needs a little encouragement this Monday, feel free to share this message with them. 🤍

🤍 SUNDAY HOPE 🤍

Before we rush into another week, take a moment and recognize something:

You made it through this one. 🙏🏽

Maybe it was a wonderful week.

Maybe it was filled with appointments, treatments, waiting, uncertainty, or difficult emotions.

Maybe you laughed more than you cried.

Or maybe you cried more than you laughed.

But you're here.

And today, that is enough. 🤍

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I've learned not to take the ordinary days for granted.

Every morning doesn't need a big celebration.
Sometimes I'm simply grateful to open my eyes and say,

“Thank You, God, for another day.” 🙏🏽

So today, I'm praying for everyone connected to this community:

🙏🏽 For the person waiting on scan results—peace.

🙏🏽 For the person in treatment—strength.

🙏🏽 For the newly diagnosed—comfort and support.

🙏🏽 For the survivor—many more milestones.

🙏🏽 For the caregiver—rest and encouragement.

🙏🏽 And for the family remembering someone they've lost—comfort and love.

Whatever this Sunday looks like for you, I hope you remember:

You don't have to carry everything today.

Rest when you need to.

Receive love when it's offered.

And hold onto hope—even if today you can only hold onto a little. 🤍

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer.

Happy Sunday, Hope Family. 🤍🙏🏽

🤍 TO THE PERSON QUIETLY READING THIS...

Maybe you've never commented.

Maybe you've never shared your story.

Maybe you found this page because you or someone you love is facing lung cancer.

Or maybe you've been following quietly for a while.

I want you to know that I see you. 🤍

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I started There Is Hope for Lung Cancer because I wanted others facing this disease to know they don't have to feel alone.

Yesterday, someone reminded me of something I needed to hear:

Whether a message reaches one person or one million people, if it gives someone hope, it matters. 🙏🏽

So today, this message is for the ONE.

The one who's scared.

The one waiting on results.

The one going through treatment.

The survivor learning how to live after cancer.

The caregiver trying to stay strong.

The person who just needs someone to remind them:

You are not alone.

I'm glad you're here. 🤍

And I hope something you find on this page gives you a little more strength for today.

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer. 🤍

If you're one of my quiet followers, you don't have to tell your story today. Just leave a 🤍 so I can say hello.

🤍 FAITHFUL FRIDAY 🤍

This morning, I'm not asking God for tomorrow.
I'm simply thanking Him for TODAY. 🙏🏽

Thank You for another morning.

Thank You for another breath.

Thank You for the people I love.

Thank You for the strength to keep going—even on the days when I don't feel strong.

And thank You for 15 years of survivorship. 🤍

My journey with lung cancer has taught me that life doesn't have to be perfect for us to find something to be grateful for.

Some seasons are joyful.

Some are difficult.

Some days we're celebrating great news.

Other days we're simply praying for enough strength to make it through.

But today, I'm choosing to pause and say:

“God, thank You for allowing me to see another day.” 🙏🏽

To every survivor, warrior, caregiver and family member reading this:

Whatever you're facing today, I pray you find one small moment of peace, one reason to smile, and one reminder that you are not walking this journey alone. 🤍

What is ONE thing you're thanking God for today?

Mine is simple:

LIFE. 🙏🏽🤍

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer.

🤍 40 DAYS OF SHOWING UP 🤍

For the past 40 days, I've made a commitment to show up here consistently.

Not because I'm trying to have the biggest page.

Not because every post gets a lot of likes or comments.

But because somewhere out there, someone may have just heard the words:

“You have lung cancer.”

And they may be scared.

They may be searching for answers.

They may be wondering what their future looks like.

They may simply need to see someone say:
“I'm still here.” 🤍

I'm a 15-year lung cancer survivor, and that's why I keep showing up.

Because 15 years ago, I needed hope too.

Today, I want this page to be a place where survivors, warriors, caregivers, and families can find encouragement, faith, community—and most importantly, know that they don't have to walk this journey alone.

Some days this page may encourage 100 people.

Some days it may encourage one.

And I've realized something:

That one person matters. 🤍

So on Day 40, my message is the same as it was when I started:

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer.

And as long as I'm able, I'm going to keep reminding people of that. 🤍

If you've been following this journey, whether you've commented before or you've quietly been reading, thank you for being here.

Leave a 🤍 below so I can say hello!

🤍 WARRIOR WEDNESDAY 🤍

Today, I want to celebrate the WARRIORS.

The person going through treatment.

The survivor celebrating another year.

The person waiting for scan results.

The caregiver sitting beside someone they love.

The family member who keeps showing up.

And the person having a difficult day but still finding the strength to keep going. 🤍

Today, let's remind someone that they're not alone.

Do you know a lung cancer survivor, warrior, caregiver, or supporter who deserves a little extra love today?

Tag them below and leave them a 🤍.

And if YOU are the warrior today, simply comment:

🤍 I'M STILL HERE! 🤍

I'll start:

To every person who has found this page—you are part of the reason I keep sharing my story.

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I want the person who was diagnosed yesterday to be able to meet the person who has been surviving for 5, 10, 15, 20, even 26+ years.

Our journeys may be different, but our stories can remind someone else that HOPE EXISTS.

🤍 There Is Hope for Lung Cancer.

09/01/2026

🤍 WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING? 🤍

Every person's journey with lung cancer is different.

Some days we feel strong.
Some days we feel tired.
Some days we celebrate.
And some days we simply take it one moment at a time.

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I've learned that having something—or someone—to hold onto can make a difference on the difficult days. 🤍

Maybe it's your children.
Your spouse.
Your grandchildren.
Your faith. 🙏🏽
A dream you're still chasing.
Or simply the desire to see another tomorrow.

Today I want to hear from YOU:

What keeps you going? 🤍

You don't have to share a long story. One word is enough.

I'll go first:

HOPE. 🤍

Because as long as I'm here, I want someone facing lung cancer to know that they don't have to face it alone.

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer. 🤍

🤍 MONDAY HOPE 🤍

A new week is here.

And whatever happened last week—good days, hard days, appointments, treatments, scan results, tears, victories—today is a new beginning.

To my lung cancer family:

You don't have to conquer the whole week today.

Just take care of today. 🤍

One appointment at a time.

One treatment at a time.

One prayer at a time.

One breath at a time.

One day at a time.

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I've learned that I can't always control what tomorrow brings.

But I can choose what I carry into today.

And today, I'm choosing HOPE. 🤍

So whatever this week brings, remember:

You've made it through hard days before.

Give yourself grace when you need it.

Accept help when it's offered.

Celebrate every little victory.

And never forget that you don't have to walk this journey alone.

🤍 What's ONE thing you're choosing this week?

HOPE?

PEACE?

FAITH?

JOY?

STRENGTH?

I'll go first:

🤍 HOPE. Always hope.

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer.

🤍 SUNDAY HOPE 🤍
To my lung cancer family:

Today, I want to remind you of something that we don't say enough...

You don't have to be strong every single day.

There may be days when you feel hopeful and ready to take on the world.

And there may be days when you're tired, afraid, frustrated, or simply overwhelmed.

Both are okay.

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I've learned that strength isn't always about pushing through.

Sometimes strength is resting.

Sometimes strength is crying.

Sometimes strength is asking for help.

Sometimes strength is praying, “God, I need You to carry me today.” 🙏🏽

And sometimes strength is simply waking up and trying again.

So if today is one of those days when you don't feel particularly strong...

Give yourself grace.

Rest.

Breathe.

Lean on the people who love you.

And let this community hold a little hope for you until you're ready to hold it for yourself again. 🤍

You are not alone.

You are loved.

And your story still matters.

There Is Hope for Lung Cancer. 🤍

If you needed this message today, you don't have to explain anything.

Just leave a 🤍 so we can surround you with love.

🤍 SATURDAY SURVIVOR CELEBRATION 🤍

Today, I want to celebrate YOU.

In the lung cancer community, we often celebrate the big milestones—and we should! 🎉

But I also want to celebrate the milestones that may not come with balloons, bells, or announcements.

🤍 Making it through your first treatment.
🤍 Getting through a difficult week.
🤍 Going to another appointment even though you were afraid.
🤍 Receiving good scan results.
🤍 Reaching another month or year of survivorship.
🤍 Waking up this morning and saying, “I'm still here.”

Every milestone matters.

As a 15-year lung cancer survivor, I celebrate every year I've been given—but I've also learned to appreciate the ordinary days in between.

So today, let's turn this comment section into a CELEBRATION WALL! 🎉

Tell us something YOU are celebrating right now.

It can be:

🎉 26 years cancer-free!
🎉 Treatment is working!
🎉 My scan was stable!
🎉 I finished treatment!
🎉 I made it through this week!
🎉 Or simply, “I'M STILL HERE!”

No milestone is too small for this community to celebrate with you. 🤍

I'll go first:

🎉 15 YEARS AND COUNTING!

Now it's your turn. 👇🏽

What are we celebrating with YOU today?
