π Halloween is coming up - if you celebrate, here is your PSA to not talk negative about "all the sugar" in the candy your kiddo will be getting. Why?
Because it's confusing them; if it's bad, then why are they allowed to have it? It also puts it on a pedestal, making it more appealing.
π¬ππ If you DO want to talk about it; talk about what your favorite candy was as a kid, why you liked it so much, how your parents stole their favorite from your candy basket - you get the jist. Make it all things they can relate too, while secretly connecting with them. π
And most importantly, let them enjoy the moment and let them be kids. Halloween is supposed to be two things: FUN and centered around candy. Accept that and move on.
That night or the next day YOU decide how you handle how much they have; but because you are the parent and get to decide what is served, and they are the child and get to decide what goes into their body; NOT because "candy is bad". It's as simple as that!
Nutrition is my passion and I'm here to help create healthy relationships with food for everyone.
PS this goes for adults too! If you want to enjoy the Halloween candy, then do! I promise, this one day does not swing your "health pendulum" into absolute despair.
