Our staff had a great AAC training this evening with Kendall Berry, M.A., CCC-SLP, AAC Consultant with PRC-Saltillo! 💙

Our team learned more about speech-generating devices and ways we can better support our clients who use AAC. It was also pretty special hearing such kind words about our staff from someone outside of our clinic. I’m incredibly proud of this team and the work they do every day!

This past week was a great reminder of what individualized ABA looks like—different needs, different goals, and meaningful progress. 💙

Here are a few wins we’re celebrating this past week:

🚗 REAL-LIFE SKILLS
Our team created a simulated drive-through to help a client practice waiting, flexibility, and coping skills in a supportive setting. Bringing real-life situations into the clinic gives us opportunities to practice skills that matter beyond our walls.

✂️ SELF-CARE SKILLS
With desensitization, support, reinforcement, and opportunities to become familiar with the routine, clients successfully tolerated haircuts in the clinic! We loved seeing increased comfort and confidence with this important self-care routine.

🚽 TOILETING MILESTONE
After months of individualized teaching, shaping, and many small steps forward, a client reached a major toileting milestone! A great example of how consistency and individualized support can build meaningful progress over time.

🚦 COMMUNITY SAFETY SKILLS
A client is working on safe street-crossing skills by learning the steps, practicing with a mock setup, and then practicing those same skills outside with support. We’re already seeing increased understanding and independence as those skills begin to come together!

✨ A little peek at some recent happenings at Autism Unboxed! ✨

Our days are filled with so many different moments—learning, playing, communicating, regulating, building relationships, trying new things, and sometimes just having FUN. 💙

To someone else, these might just look like random pictures from our day—but we see so much more. We see individualized support. We see RBTs meeting kids where they are. We see learning happening through play. We see relationships being built, skills being practiced, and kids being supported in the ways that work best for THEM. ❤️

A huge thank you to the Wellston Fire Department for taking the time to visit us! 🚒❤️

We are especially grateful for the patience and flexibility you showed our kids—allowing them to explore the fire truck at their own pace, in a quiet, sensory-friendly environment with no pressure. Experiences like this give our kids the opportunity to learn, explore, and engage in a way that feels comfortable and safe for them.
