Here is a post from my personal page highlighting why the correct type of food is so important. - Struggling on your fitness journey? Do you want the body others have? Yes I have been there and when you hit that stage it is truly the turning point that can go one of two ways - lead you to greatness or keep you in the rut. Why is it so hard? It is largely due to negative self talk, lack of knowledge, and willpower. We are our own worst enemies and we can be more brutal to ourselves than any bully can be. It is at this point that you really need to evaluate everything including your workouts, your food, and especially your support group but know this it is YOUR responsibility to make the decision to change and when that happens greatness begins. Never be ashamed or embarrased to ask for help from others with more knowledge than you, seek out help with food and start with the basics, always switch up your workouts so your body is constantly working and not staying comfortable with your workouts. When you plateau SEEK help! This is the time when failure and quitting need to leave your vocabulary and be replaced by will and determination. There is NO faillure - only stumbling blocks on the journey. You have to WANT to be the best version of you more than you want the food that got you to this point. Is it hard - you bet your butt it is but aren't YOU WORTH IT? I started my jouney over 10 years ago with so much weight and negative self-talk I was destined to self-destruct and I did just not in the way you think. I started to get slimmer on the outside but inside my body was a mess - illness after illness took hold. Thousands of dollars spent trying to figure this out and guess what - It all came down to food choices!!!! You have to dedicate time in the kitchen and realize what type of food you put in your mouth makes the difference. You need to give your body the proper fuel to burn during exercise and this is where I failed EVERY time. I didn't eat enough and I certainly wasn't eating the right type of foods to even help my body a little bit. How did I figure it out? I joined an eating challenge (now I am a captain on the challenge) that was different than anything I had done before because it was all natural food - no pills, shakes, points, or pre-packaged foods. I learned the basics and was successful but I still was plateaued. Why? Once again I wasn't fueling my body properly? At this point I could have quit because I had reached my goal to be under 200 pounds but I also knew this was another turning point and another tough decision had to be made. I could stay where I was knowing I was sick or I could seek out more help. It should have been an easy choice but again the negative self-talk showed up and said to seek help is to admit failure so let's stay where we are and just accept it. Part of that is right it would have been an easy choice but my body was screaming for relief and I knew all the PROGRESS I made would eventually be gone if I didn't make the right choice. I prayed, sought advice, prayed more, cried, prayed more, and then the paperwork came - you see while I debated and had the internal battle, God heard the prayer and had my sister Carrie Alampi intervene to fulfill the prayer. She sought out the right person and took action. Many would say God didn't help but sometimes we are so engrossed in our battles that we don't hear God and then he sends someone to help us. Did I fail? No the SUCCESS was in knowing I needed help and I got it. You have to take SMALL steps to get to the BIG leaps. Never set limitations on yourself! In the end it comes down to prayer, a great support system, proper food choices, committment, determination, and will. You need them all to be successful and when you are greatness is a feeling like no other. Take that greatness and ASPIRE to INSPIRE because you never know who is looking to you for their own spark and ALWAYS give the glory to GOD. Everyone has it in them to be great and as Jillian Michael's says WILL IS A SKILL!!!! Don't think you can do it? Look at these photos and tell yourself you can!!!!
