WHY CHOOSE ME?
You have a lot of options when it comes to choosing a trainer in the Conejo Valley, let alone virtually. You might be looking around, trying to figure out what fits into your busy life.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - no matter what kind of mood I'm in , when I go in to teach a class whether it's barre, pilates, bootcamp, or HIIT, I set my personal life aside, go into educator (or performer) mode, start reading the room, and deliver the best class I can. My clients say they take my group classes because their session is the ultimate reset for their mental well-being after a chaotic week.

Here is what Kelly Cannan, a local realtor and fellow mom (our children go to the same school!) shared after making it back to class:

"I had to change my workout schedule a few months back and I've really missed the Barre Class at the 'Y'. I was able to go last Friday and I was so excited. Gigi makes the class about physical and mental health and after a long week, I needed both."

Life gets busy, schedules shift, and stress piles up. When you take my class - whether it's in person at the YMCA, or virtually with me through Five Miles Further, the goal isn't to punish your body for what you ate or to exhaust yourself to the point of burnout. The goal is to move intentionally, release the mental weight of your week, and leave feeling entirely renewed.

Next time you feel completely overwhelmed after a long, stressful week, try this:

Commit to "Movement as Medicine": Instead of skipping your workout because you are mentally exhausted, scale it to match your energy. Drop the intensity, focus heavily on your breathing during each movement, and treat that hour as dedicated space just for you.

If you are looking for a fitness community that supports both your physical strength and your peace of mind, send me a DM today. Let me know what you're looking for!

This Labor Day, as you take a well-deserved break from the daily grind, remember that your greatest investment is in yourself.

Using this day to recharge isn't a luxury; it's a strategic move that pays dividends when you return to work. The science is clear on why taking time for your health is the smartest move you can make:

Improved Performance: A study presented to the American College of Sports Medicine found that workers who exercised for 30–60 minutes reported an average performance boost of 15%.

Better Time Management: In the same study, 60% of employees said their time management skills and ability to meet deadlines improved on the days they exercised.

Reduced Stress: A workout is one of the most effective ways to combat stress and reset your mind, helping you make better decisions.

This Labor Day, honor your hard work by investing in your well-being. Use this day off to move your body—take a walk, hit the gym, or simply spend 20 minutes outside to reset your mind. It’s the ultimate way to recharge so you can come back sharper, more focused, and ready to tackle anything.

Want to crush your workday? Exercise.

Like many of us, my client—a busy mom of two and a business owner—knew she had to make time for her health but was overwhelmed by her schedule. She knew a generic gym routine wouldn't work.

We didn't just give her a workout plan. We built a system tailored for her life, focusing on consistency and sustainable habits.

Here's how we did it:

~ Early Morning Commitment: We scheduled early morning workouts 3x/week. It's a commitment for me, but I show up for her because she shows up for herself.

~ Sustainable Habits: She stopped late-night snacking and eating out every day, replacing those habits with healthier choices that gave her more energy.

~ Personalized Approach: Ensured every session was challenging yet enjoyable, providing the energy she needed to tackle her day.

The incredible result? She's lost 40 lbs., dropped several dress sizes, and as an unexpected bonus, she now has a beautiful, strong back and neckline that she loves to show off. This is proof that you don't just "find" time for fitness—you create a powerful transformation, inside and out, by making it a priority. She's living proof that you don't just "find" time for fitness—you create more energy and productivity by making it a priority.

What small step can you take today to boost your productivity?

Habit is persistence in practice.

When my client Debbie first started personal training with me, her goal was simple: get into a consistent routine. We didn't aim for five days a week. We focused on building a foundation of one or two dedicated sessions together, making sure she showed up and felt successful.

Over time, as that routine became a non-negotiable part of her week, Debbie's confidence grew. She started adding an additional day where she followed a specific workout program I designed for her, independently building on the momentum we had created.

Her success wasn't about a sudden burst of willpower. It was about:

~ Starting small: Committing to a manageable routine first.

~ Building consistency: Focusing on showing up, even when it wasn't perfect.

~ Leveraging momentum: Using the established habit as a launchpad for more.

The key is to start, be persistent in that practice, and the rest will follow.

If you're feeling stuck with a habit, you're not alone.

Take the daily lunch routine. You want to drink less soda, but that Coke is always within arm's reach, and the healthier choice feels like work.

You can't solve an environmental problem with sheer willpower. The truth is, the battle isn't with your discipline—it's with your environment.

The solution isn't to push harder. It's to build a system where the easy choice is the healthy choice.

Here's how to fix it:

~ Make the unhealthy choice invisible and difficult. Stop buying the Coke. If it's not in your house, you can't drink it.

~ Make the healthy choice obvious and easy. Buy a case of sparkling water or flavored seltzer and place it on the top shelf of your fridge, right at eye level. Keep a filled water bottle on your desk at all times.

This isn't about making a difficult resolution. It's about creating a habit loop where your environment is rigged for your success.

Stop fighting your environment. Start designing it.

Willpower is not the answer.

Constantly battling yourself with willpower is exhausting and unsustainable. The truth is, relying on willpower alone is a strategy designed for failure.

You don't need more willpower. You need a better plan.

Instead of fighting against yourself, create an environment that supports you.

Make healthy choices easier.

Make them more automatic.

Think small, think consistent.

Stop trying to force yourself into a new habit. Start making that habit the most obvious and simple choice. Be patient with yourself as you build these new, supportive pathways. This is how you make lasting change.

Ready to stop the battle?

Stretching: Friend or Foe? 🤔 Okay, not really a foe, but there are definitely some myths out there! The biggest one? That any stretching at any time is always good. Not quite!

The type of stretching and when you do it matters for safety and effectiveness.

Quick Myth Busting:

Myth: Always static stretch before exercise.
Reality: Dynamic movements are better pre-workout to prime muscles. Static stretching after exercise, or on rest days, improves flexibility.

Myth: Stretching prevents all soreness.
Reality: It helps mobility, but soreness is complex and involves more than just stretching.

Myth: Push through pain.
Reality: Stretching should feel like a gentle pull, not pain. Listen to your body!

My goal is to help you move freely and feel great. What's your biggest question about stretching? Let's clear it up! 👇
