A small but mighty team with over 175 years combined experience in adaptive sports including former Paralympians, Olympic and Paralympic Coaches, Adaptive Sport Pioneers and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Who We Serve...
- Individuals with physical disabilities and their families including children, adults and veterans
- Over 3,000 unique individuals with physical disabilities each year from over 30 states
- Communities and partners to ensure the creation of sustainable and well supported programs

How We Do It...
- We travel with over 18 equipment trailers to the most underserved areas of the country
- We focus on progressive opportunities for individuals of all abilities: beginner, intermediate, advanced
- We partner with VA Medical Centers, rehab hospitals, park and rec districts, outfitters, veteran service organizations, gyms and other adaptive sport orgs

We are thrilled to welcome Peter French and Mary Kate Anderson to the Adaptive Adventures Board of Directors! 🧡

Peter is a veteran and healthcare administrator who served for 21 years in the United States Air Force as a Medical Service Corps officer. He brings extensive experience in leadership, healthcare, and financial management—as well as a personal belief in the healing and restorative power of outdoor recreation, physical activity, and community.

Raised in Bend, Oregon, Peter was a collegiate cross-country skier and remains passionate about cycling, running, skiing, paddleboarding, and nearly anything that gets him outdoors. He now lives in the Seattle area with his wife and son.

Mary Kate has built her career in leadership, strategic partnerships, and business development. Her connection to our mission is deeply personal: her brother lost his left leg after being struck by a drunk driver. His resilience following his amputation—and the strength and determination he demonstrated throughout his life—continue to inspire her. By serving on our Board, Mary Kate honors his legacy while helping others discover that disability does not define what is possible.

A former Division I soccer player and active Masters swimmer, Mary Kate believes strongly in the ability of sports to build confidence, create community, and remind us of what we are capable of. She now lives in Colorado with her husband, two children, and their dog.

Peter and Mary Kate bring tremendous professional experience, personal passion, and a shared belief in the power of adventure to heal and connect. We are grateful to have their leadership as Adaptive Adventures continues to grow.

Gold stars all around. 🌟

At Adaptive Adventures, we believe the best “behavior” on the trail, on the water, or at the crag is the kind that keeps everyone safe, seen, and included.

That can look something like repairing broken gear over replacing it (or, finding a local gear swap meet up!), wearing your helmet (yes, especially on e-bikes), reporting broken or damaged accessibility aids, inviting new friends along (the more the merrier!), following Leave No Trace practices, and asking before you assist (because no one likes to be handled or touched without permission).

These simple choices add up to something powerful: a community where people with disabilities and their families can show up as they are, try something new, and feel a real sense of belonging in the outdoors.

Team Blue is racing towards first place, but will you be there to cheer them on?!

Our decorated paradragon boat racing team has been training all summer, gearing up for the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival next weekend! 🏆

Paddling here isn’t just about racing — it’s about rebuilding confidence, finding community, and having fun together.

Held on August 29th and 30th at the beautiful Sloan's Lake Park, this free, family-friendly festival is the state's largest celebration of Asian and Asian American culture and heritage.

Explore dozens of food vendors at the Taste of Asia, enjoy a wide range of performances from local bands, artists, and entertainers, shop your way through the marketplace - and most importantly, root for Team Blue as they defend their first place title!
