Tomorrow is DAF Day! 💙

If you've ever heard someone mention a "Donor Advised Fund" and nodded along, you're not alone. A DAF is like a charitable savings account. You put money in, take the tax deduction then, and recommend grants to the causes you love whenever you're ready.

Here are three things even longtime DAF holders often don't know:

✅ You can't pay a pledge from a DAF, but you can plan ahead. Make a multi-year commitment and fund each year's gift from your DAF.
✅ Recurring gifts are A-OK. Most DAF sponsors let you schedule automatic grants.
✅ You can name a charity as a beneficiary of your DAF, so your support continues even if something unexpected happens.

Why does it matter? We asked Laurie, one of our dragon boat paddlers, what would happen if programs like ours didn't exist.

She didn't hesitate: "Massive isolation... It would be way too easy to not leave the house."

We’re hiring an Adaptive Sports Coordinator!

Adaptive Adventures is seeking someone who believes in the power of outdoor recreation to build confidence, independence, health, and community.

This hands-on position helps plan, coordinate, and lead adaptive recreation programs—including cycling, climbing, kayaking, paddleboarding, dragon boat racing, skiing, and more. The right person will bring strong organizational skills, high energy, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to create exceptional experiences for participants, families, volunteers, and partners.

📍 Based in Westminster, Colorado
🗓 Full-time, in-person position
🚐 Travel throughout Colorado and occasionally across the country
🌙 Evening and weekend availability required

“What would be the consequence if these programs didn’t exist?”

Laurie’s answer is simple and powerful:

“Massive isolation…”

That’s what access to adaptive recreation can change.

For Laurie, getting outside isn’t just about an activity. It’s about connection. Movement. Independence. Being part of a community. And having a reason to get out the door.

Adaptive Adventures believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience the outdoors, regardless of disability, location, equipment needs, or economic status.

When adaptive recreation is accessible, the impact reaches far beyond a day on the water, a bike trail, or a climbing wall.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we hold space for remembrance, grief, and gratitude.

We remember the lives lost that day.
We honor the first responders and service members who answered the call in the months and years that followed.
We recognize those living with — and those we’ve lost to — post‑9/11 related illness and injury.

For many in our community, especially post‑9/11 veterans and their families, the impact of that day is still present every single day.

At Adaptive Adventures, our role is to help transform isolation into connection and pain into possibilities by bringing free, adaptive outdoor programs to communities across the country. In these spaces, people can rediscover confidence, belonging, and joy.

Maybe it’s “just a program.”

Or maybe it’s where someone found their smile again.

Out on the water, on the trail, or at the crag, we see it every day: shoulders relax, laughter comes back, and a sense of freedom starts to return.

Our adaptive programs are about so much more than sports and recreation — they’re about rebuilding confidence, restoring independence, and finding a community that says, “you belong here.”

Because when adventure is truly accessible, people don’t just participate.

They thrive. 💙
