I said what I said.

I’m not everybody’s cup of tea.

That’s why it’s important to find the right practitioner for you.

Should I have known this already? Probably. But let’s be honest- this is why there is no such thing as a ‘Master Herbalist’ (at least in the US). How can you possibly master the complexity of herbalism?

15 years of studying herbal medicine and there are many things I don’t know/ don’t remember/ never learned.

Like that these are not Nettle seeds. They’re flowers produced by the male plants. And this one big boy here is all male. No seeds for me.

So do your research. And no- this right here does not count as research, y’all.

As I dove into the archives while identifying this plant, I realized there was this thing called historical plant landmarks. It’s where finding a specific plant can clue you in about the history of the place.

There’s way more to this story than what I’ve mentioned, but the large cluster of Blackberry Lilies I found was not brought in through seed dispersal. I’ve explored this area for 30 years and have never seen any others. Someone I never checked out this one spot, at least not while it was in flower.

This flower was often found in colonial gardens as an exotic species from China. Other areas it has been found are at Mt. Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.

There were also other signs of a previous garden based on some of the other plants that still grow there, which I am only familiar with due to being an herbalist.

So I ‘adopted’ one of the 30 lilies I found. I also ‘adopted’ one of the baby magnolias. 😬

I think this is so fascinating, and it blends my loves of both history and herbalism 🌿

You’ll never look at a face the same way again! 😂

But seriously, I’m honored to be teaching my first ever weekend immersion of Reading the Body after spending 2 years in training with Margi Flint as one of her Legacy Teachers.

With a blend of Eastern and Western traditions, we’ll cover all the areas for observation, as well as specific organ systems based on the 24 hour body clock.

When we learn the indications and the language of the body we can support it more effectively. And of course we’ll be practicing on ourselves and doing some drop pulse testing!

Space is limited so sign up at the farm website (or in Linktree).
