Facial growth isn’t just about appearance—it’s about function!

The way your child’s face grows directly impacts four crucial areas of their development: Breathing, Chewing, Speaking, and Sleep.

When growth is restricted, teeth can become crowded and airways may narrow. Supporting healthy facial development early on is the key to preventing bigger structural and functional challenges later.

At MyoWay Centers for Kids, we focus on the foundation of a healthy smile and an open airway. Schedule a consultation to see how we can support your child’s optimal development.

Snoring may run in the family, but that does not make it healthy for a child. Children are designed to sleep quietly and breathe quietly. If your child snores, wakes up often, or breathes through their mouth at night, it may be a sign their airway and oral function need support.

Mouth breathing, restless sleep, crowded teeth, brain fog, and grinding teeth at night may be signs that a child’s airway and sleep quality need a closer look.

In my recent article in Stroll Magazine, I share why jaw development, tongue posture, nasal breathing, and sleep are deeply connected to a child’s growth and daily function.

Mouth breathing can look harmless, especially when a child seems healthy during the day. Yet the way a child breathes can influence how the tongue, lips, cheeks, jaw, and facial muscles function during growth.

Over time, those muscle patterns may affect how the jaw and face develop. If your child sleeps with their mouth open, snores, wakes tired, or struggles with focus, it may be worth looking deeper.

Join us for an engaging CE course exploring the preventive power of xylitol and the dental professional’s role in supporting healthier outcomes for children through early intervention and airway-focused care.

Attendees will learn the science behind xylitol, how it supports a healthy oral microbiome, and practical ways to incorporate xylitol protocols into patient care. The course will also explore the growing importance of screening for sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBDs) in children and how early recognition of airway concerns can positively impact growth, development, and overall health.

Perfect for dentists, hygienists, orthodontic teams, and healthcare providers passionate about prevention, airway health, and whole-child wellness.

A child who is mouth breathing, sleeping poorly, or struggling with airway development may spend the day running on stress instead of rest. That can show up as big emotions, poor focus, and constant reactivity.

MyoWay Centers for Kids helps families look deeper at jaw and airway development so children have a better foundation for growth, sleep, and regulation.

Big transformations often start with small steps.

Hearing parents share the positive changes they’ve seen in their child’s life is why we do what we do every day at MyoWay Centers for Kids.

From improved breathing and sleep to better focus, energy, and confidence, early intervention can truly change a child’s future. We’re honored to be part of that journey.

As parents, we’re pros at checking for fevers and scraped knees—but some of the most important health clues happen right under our noses while our kids are resting.

If you notice any of these three habits, your child's body might be sending a "SOS" about their airway health.

1. The Grinders

Does it sound like your child is chewing on rocks at night? Teeth grinding isn't always about stress. Often, the jaw shifts and grinds as a survival reflex to keep the airway open when breathing becomes difficult.

2. The Mouth Breathers

If your child’s mouth is hanging open while they sleep (or even while watching TV), they’re missing out on the benefits of nasal breathing. Chronic mouth breathing can actually change the way a child’s face and jaw develop over time.

3. The Snorers

While we often think it's "cute," regular snoring in children is a major red flag. It’s a literal sound signal that air is struggling to pass through, prevents deep REM sleep, and can lead to daytime "brain fog."

The Big Picture

These symptoms are often connected. When a child's airway is narrow or blocked, the body uses grinding and mouth breathing to compensate.

The takeaway? Don't just "wait for them to grow out of it." Addressing airway health early can improve behavior, focus at school, and overall growth!

Check-in: Have you noticed one of these more than the others? Book a jaw & airway evaluation today to start addressing these red flags.

Your child can sleep through the night and still struggle to breathe well while sleeping. Airway resistance is often quiet, which means parents may not notice anything is wrong at night.

Poor sleep breathing can show up during the day as trouble focusing, emotional outbursts, hyperactivity, or school struggles. At MyoWay Centers for Kids, we help families look deeper at the connection between breathing, sleep, growth, and behavior. Schedule a consultation to learn more.
