We never got the memo to start declining in our 50s.
We're having too much fun.
15 miles while the world was still asleep.

I wish there were a bigger word for blessed because that’s how I feel right now.

The 5x5 Food Fix doors are closing today. We only do this 2x a year, and we keep it small on purpose. Hundreds of lives have changed using this structure.
There's nothing new and cutting-edge, just a system that is simple and repeatable. Plus, you get to hang out with Heather and me for 5 group coaching calls.
It works if you do it.
I'll post the link in the comments.

What a perfect day for the Buffalo Marathon!

Heather and I had great runs and both of us crushed our goal times.

I never thought it would be possible to run a sub-2:30 half-marathon with a fused ankle. Today I ran a 2:24 with a 10:59 pace.

Lots of emotions today.
I am so blessed.

10 years ago this weekend, my life forever changed.
I thought I had lost my career and friends and that no one would ever see me the same. Everything that I had hidden for years was literally on the front page of the Buffalo Newspaper.
A writer reached out to do what I thought was a small blurb about me running my first marathon. "Small steps carry marathoner on road to redemption" was the title.
I had never talked about my recovery from drugs and alcohol to anyone before but it felt almost therapeutic to talk to the writer about it.
When I had saw the length of the article I knew exactly what happened and all the details that were included.
I bought dozens of copies but I didn't read the article for months.
I went to work and the first feedback that I got was, "what a beautiful love story."

The article exposed all my secrets and skeletons but the "love story" overpowered the addiction and darkness.

The temperature was a record high that day. I blew up long before the halfway point. I had made up my mind to quit at mile 18 where Heather and Carolyn were waiting to cheer me on.
I told Heather I had nothing left and I was throwing in the towel. 8 miles to the finish line and nothing short of a miracle would get me to that finish.

She said to grab a drink of water and we'll finish this thing together. She dropped her bags, said goodbye to Carolyn and started walking with me. She'd never run 8 miles but she picked up the pace a bit and off we went. Mile by mile we got closer and closer to the finish. The photographer caught a picture of us running side by side on the last turn and the was the featured photo in the paper.

What a day it was! One of the hardest things I've done and it wouldn't have happened without the angel by my side.

Life got a little crazy after that article.

We’re the worst marketers on Facebook
But we are really good at helping people through the 5x5.
There’s nothing magical about it. It’s a simple structure, a repeatable system, and a clear plan.
And for years now, we’ve watched people create some pretty incredible results because they finally had a framework they could actually stick with.
Our favorite part isn’t even the food or the meal prep, it's the people.
The weekly Zoom calls.
The encouragement.
The accountability.
The friendships that happen when a group of people decides to change together.
By the end, it feels a lot more like family than “just another program.”
If you’ve been curious about the 5x5, I’ll drop the info link in the comments.
And if you’re a 5x5 graduate… come back in. You’re always welcome. The more the merrier

People think change comes from some big breakthrough.
A magical moment
A secret formula
Perfect timing
More willpower, more grit

It doesn’t

It comes from small changes, repeated over time.
From consistency over years not months.
From doing what you can, with what you have, in this moment.
From less planning and more doing.
From starting now, not tomorrow.

Because change doesn’t belong to the lucky.
It belongs to the people who begin.
