This week the Sri Lankan delegation sent an entire family to make sure I have the Gotu Kola story right.

“We appreciate the attempt,” was the zinger.

I absolutely did learn a lot and love that they stopped to talk for a while. At the end of the convo, the mom reiterated, “no seriously, we appreciate that you have it available.

But where are the HERBS?! Catnip for the cat and the kids. Chamomile and tulsi for the head of house and visitors. Bee balm and milkweed for the pollinators. ...so many options.

One of the smartest things you can do in a vegetable garden is plant for what your family will actually eat, not for what looks good on paper 🍅
🥒 Zucchini is the one I always warn people about, because one plant can give you more than enough for a household.
🥬 Lettuce works better for me when I plant a few at a time every couple of weeks instead of all at once.
🫑 Peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans are usually worth giving a little space if your family eats them often.
🌿 Basil is another one that can go a long way fast, so I do not usually plant much.
📏 I’ve found the best garden plans start with honest eating habits, because that keeps you from wasting space and ending up buried in extra produce.
