Today was a really special day and one I’ll never forget. [Warning: long sappy post ahead.]
WHYY, Philadelphia’s PBS station, came out to film Coastal Alchemy’s Walk & Talks for their segment. And it really gave me the chance to sit with how much this community has grown over the last two years.
Coastal Alchemy first began hosting workshops in 2023, rooted in the idea of creating intentional spaces for connection, reflection, and community. Then in November 2024, we started our monthly Walk & Talks from .is.scout.cafe. Nick, the owner of Scout Cafe, was one of the first people to open his space to the vision of what Coastal Alchemy could be. He never stopped believing in the power of community, whether 2 people showed up or 20.
And you all kept showing up, even through the cold winter months. Many arrived as strangers, and over time became familiar faces within the community, friends, and support systems.
The people being filmed today have not only walked with us, but truly embody the heart and soul of Coastal Alchemy’s mission: making meaningful connection the foundation of how we live, work, and lead because we believe real change happens when people come together with intention.
Watching capture that today felt so meaningful because it’s a testament to what can happen when we come together.
As someone who deeply believes in the power of storytelling and community, having Shirley and team document this moment felt incredibly meaningful. Public media has a way of preserving the heart of communities, and it means so much that they saw something worth sharing in what we’ve been building together.
The segment will air sometime in June, and I’ll be sure to share details once the official date is announced. Immensely grateful to everyone who has walked with us, supported us, and helped shape this community into what it is today.
If you’re still reading this, we hope you’ll come Walk & Talk with us soon.
