🚨 As a patient, you should always feel comfortable asking your provider about their credentials, training, and experience. 🚨
Whether it’s injectables, lasers, chemical peels, or other aesthetic treatments, these are medical procedures NOT beauty services. They require extensive education, hands-on training, a deep understanding of anatomy, and the ability to recognize and manage complications if they occur.
Never be afraid to ask:
✔️ What licenses and credentials do you hold?
✔️ What medical training do you have?
✔️ How often do you perform this procedure?
✔️ How would you manage a complication if one occurred?
Your safety matters.
Unfortunately, not everyone in this industry has the education, credentials, training, or clinical background necessary to safely perform procedures and manage complications when they arise.
For me, transparency matters.
I’m Julie Oakes, ACNP-BC, MSN, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with 17 years in healthcare, nearly 8 years of aesthetic injecting experience, and 9 years as a clinical educator. My medical background includes oncology, internal medicine, acute care medicine, dermatology, nursing education, and aesthetic medicine.
