Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of hosting Julie Lewis, the LVAD Program Supervisor from Northeast Georgia Health System, to educate personnel on all things LVADs. Left Ventricular Assist Devices are implanted into the ventricles of patients who experience late-stage or severe heart failure. This incredible treatment option improves quality and longevity of life. This course was more than pertinent to Barrow County EMS and all our medical first responders because of our population of LVAD patients, so we are thankful for the opportunity to refresh our knowledge and be as prepared as possible for ALL our patients.🫀🚑❤️

Julie has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to LVADs and we can’t thank her enough for her enthusiasm in LVAD education. 🤩

For those interested, Julie is instructing another LVAD course for us on October 19th, 2026 at Winder Fire Station 1.

As always, we are so thankful for the partnerships we have with Barrow County, Barrow County Fire Department, Winder Fire Department, and Northeast Georgia Health System. Thank you all for allowing us to serve alongside you ❤️🚑

This week, we're proud to introduce Paramedic Addy!

Addy brings six years of EMS experience to the profession, including four years as a paramedic with almost 3 years serving the citizens and visitors of Barrow County.

In addition to providing high-quality patient care, Addy is also a licensed EMS Instructor who is passionate about helping fellow providers grow their knowledge, skills, and confidence.

We're also proud to congratulate Addy on her recent promotion to Field Training Officer (FTO)! 👏 As an FTO, she will help guide and mentor new providers, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge, professionalism, and clinical excellence needed to serve our community.
Her dedication to education helps strengthen not only our team but the care we provide throughout our community.

When she's not on the ambulance or in the classroom, Addy enjoys staying active through fitness, creating art, and spending time playing video games.

AMR Barrow honors the countless individuals and families whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

For many of us, this cause is deeply personal. It is a mother, father, sister, daughter, spouse, partner, friend, coworker, or mentor. It is someone we love, someone we have cared for, or someone we miss dearly. Behind every diagnosis is a story of strength, courage, hope, and perseverance.

To those who are currently fighting, to those who have survived, and to those who carry the memory of a loved one lost, we stand with you. Your resilience inspires us, and your journey reminds us of the incredible strength found in the human spirit.

As healthcare professionals and first responders, we witness the power of compassion, support, and community every day. We know that no one should face life's toughest challenges alone. 🏥Right care. Right time. Right place.🏥

Barrow County’s new 911 Nurse Navigation program, developed in collaboration with American Medical Response Barrow County EMS, Barrow County Fire Department, Barrow County Government, and program pioneer Global Medical Response, gives 911 call takers the option to connect patients with a 911 Nurse Navigator who can navigate them to alternative options.

The Nurse Navigator will refer patients to alternative care options which may include the emergency room, urgent care center, clinic, telehealth, home care or other care settings. Ultimately, this program helps patients receive timely care while prioritizing emergency care resources for more critical needs. 🏥🩻🩺🚑⚕️

✅🏁We are officially live with Nurse Navigation today as of 11:00 and have already received our first call! 🏁✅

Harrison has proudly served in Fire and EMS as both a volunteer and licensed provider for nearly 17 years! 🎉 His passion for helping others and commitment to excellence make him an incredible asset to our team and our community.
