While this may be a poor attempt at a comedic post, this is a slight insight into the day to day work of an intern at the Center for Movement and Wellbeing. My days sometimes consists of education through social media or building our exercise video library, personal training with a client, designing workouts for our classes, or simply taking care of the Center itself. Ultimately, each one of us on the Center for Movement staff are committed and driven to help each person on their wellness and fitness journey. To be good at anything, you have to practice it over and over and over again. From crochet to the PGA tour, those who are the best at this activity have spent the most amount of time and effort practicing these movements. But how does this increase your performance or output? It patterns the movement into your brain, laying down neural pathways that help your brain instruct your muscles on how, when, and where to contract which forms the proper movement. Now, if you practice this movement properly thousands of times, your brain will have a concrete muscle memory of the movement, so it becomes effortless and rudimentary. Thus, practice is the only way to truly improve at your sport or activity because it neurologically prepares you to perform your best!
If you want help moving properly and building muscle patterns for your sport or everyday life, reach out to us at [email protected], we'd love to help you!
