ReKindle XM “Helping you move from burnout to Living Purpose through awareness, clarity, and meaningful impact.” Live Energized. Live Aware. Start Living Purpose.

At reKindle XM, we believe burnout can be a powerful turning point—not a dead end. After years of watching people push through exhaustion, lose their passion, and feel disconnected from what matters, we set out to create a clearer path forward. That journey began with our book, reKindle: Your Path from Burnout to Erupting with Passion and Purpose, which helps readers understand what’s draining them, reconnect with their spark, and begin rebuilding their energy. Find our book here: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/rekindle-brian-gattshall/1145564441?ean=9781636985022

But healing and clarity don’t stop with the last page. People needed a way to live this transformation, not just read about it. That’s why we created Living Purpose—a practical framework designed to help you sustain clarity, energy, and meaning in everyday life. Living Purpose focuses on three essential forms of awareness: https://www.rekindlexmhub.com

🔵 Professional Awareness — understanding your genius, strengths, and roles so you can work with clarity and energy.
💚 Personal Awareness — recognizing yourself, others, and environments so you can communicate better, protect your energy, and build stronger relationships.
💜 Purpose Awareness — identifying your values, meaning, and deeper “why” so your choices feel aligned and intentional. Together, these pillars offer a grounded, sustainable way to navigate work, relationships, and personal growth without slipping back into burnout. They help you create a life that fuels you instead of draining you—a life where purpose isn’t something you search for, but something you live daily. Whether you're recovering from burnout, feeling stuck in your current path, or simply ready to grow with more awareness and intention, we’re here to guide you from spark to sustained purpose.

DISC explains how you naturally communicate and respond, particularly when pressure or expectations increase.

It brings awareness to patterns related to pace, priorities, emotional response, communication preferences, and more.

It doesn’t define personality, but it does bring clarity to consistent communication and response patterns.

Everyone can exhibit behaviors across all four styles. But, one or two styles lead how a person communicates and responds, especially under pressure.

We’ve been told all along that we should strengthen our weaknesses.

And I’m not saying don’t improve. There are always things we can learn, practice, and get better at.

But when it comes to the work that consistently frustrates you, the goal may not be to turn every weakness into a strength.

Sometimes the better question is: How do I allot my time for this? Or who can I work alongside?

Because when you find someone whose strength is the very thing that frustrates you, something important happens. You are not only taking away a frustration for yourself. You are bringing enjoyment to the person who actually enjoys doing that kind of work.

That is a very different way to think about growth.

It is going to be really hard to strengthen a frustration. So maybe the goal is not to convince yourself to suck it up. Maybe the goal is to recognize it, plan for it, and invite the right support around it.

Professional growth is not always about becoming good at everything. It’s about understanding where you are designed to contribute best, and where you were never meant to carry the whole thing alone.

I know I *can* do those taxes. That is not the issue. The issue is that apparently I would rather think about them for eight months than spend one focused day just getting them done.

Which, when said out loud, sounds completely ridiculous. Procrastinating for eight months sounds terrible for a day of work.

And yet… Here we are.

We all have a version of this. The thing we are fully capable of doing. The thing that is not technically that hard.

But for some reason, we keep delaying it.

Not because we are lazy, or incapable, or don’t understand the assignment. But because that kind of work takes more from us than it seems like it should.

For me, getting something all the way to the finish line can be frustrating. I can gather the information. I can organize the pieces. I can get everything ready. But the final push? That is where I start looking for the second extension that unfortunately does not exist.

This is why Professional Awareness matters. Because capability does not always equal sustainability.

Just because I can do something does not mean it fits how I work best.

And once I can name that, I can stop making it a character flaw and start making a plan.

Maybe I need to schedule it differently.
Maybe I need accountability.
Maybe I need to pair it with something that gives me momentum.
Maybe I need to ask for help from someone who actually enjoys finishing what they start.

The point is not to avoid every frustrating task. That is not real life. The point is to notice which tasks drain more than they should, so we can approach them with more honesty and intention.

So now I’m curious: What is your “taxes” task?

Sometimes the job is not the problem. The environment is.

Your personality explains why certain work environments affect you so deeply.

The role itself may be fine on paper, but the environment may constantly push against your communication needs, fear triggers, or boundaries.

Environments can either energize you or drain you. Personal awareness through the DISC personality assessment can help you recognize how you respond in different settings.

For example, a high C (Conscientiousness) may struggle where expectations are vague.

A high S (Steadiness) may struggle where change is constant and rushed.

A high I (Influence) may struggle where connection is absent.

A high D (Dominance) may struggle where decision-making is slow or overly controlled.

Workplace fit includes the environment, not just the responsibilities.

Every dreamer needs a doer.

I say that with a lot of love because in our house, I am absolutely the dreamer and Will is absolutely the doer.

I can see the vision, imagine the possibilities, connect the ideas, and get very excited about what something could become.

Will is the one who helps bring it back down to earth: What needs to happen first? What is the actual next step? What needs to get finished before we move on to the next big idea?

And honestly, thank God for that. Because if every dreamer needs a doer, every doer probably also needs someone who keeps dreaming.

That is one of the things I love about understanding how we each work best. It takes away so much unnecessary frustration.

Instead of assuming the other person should think, move, decide, or finish the same way I do, I can see where we are different and how those differences can actually help us.

This matters in marriage. It matters in business. It matters on teams.

The point is not to be good at every part of the process. The point is to understand what you bring, what drains you, and who helps carry the parts that do not fit you as naturally.

Do you ever wonder why you respond differently from the people around you—or even differently depending on the environment?

The DISC assessment can help you better understand your personality so you can communicate, act, and respond with greater awareness. It can also show you where there is room to grow.

For me, that meant learning that preparation helps me feel more confident in meetings. It also helped me recognize the importance of speaking up. Even if you are naturally quiet, your perspective is valuable and should be shared.

Greater self-awareness helps us stretch beyond our comfort zones, give ourselves more grace, and grow into the best version of ourselves.

Michelle and I keep coming back to two kinds of awareness:

1. Professional — what each of us brings to the table
2. Personal — who we are in the moment we bring it. This second one is where all the comedy lives.

We're wired differently. On a good day that's our superpower; on a tired day it's a comedy sketch.

I'll start thinking out loud and somehow come out sounding like I'm rallying troops for a cause nobody agreed to join. Michelle will leap to fixing an idea before she's even had the chance to be curious about it.

So there we are: me accidentally campaigning, her accidentally project-managing, both of us sure the other one started it.

What saved us isn't a technique. It's noticing, and having the nerve to say, "Maybe now isn't the best time." That one sentence has rescued more good ideas than any burst of brilliance ever has.

The other side is just as real: when we catch each other rested and curious, something clicks. Her questions crack the door open, the ideas pour in, and together they get sharpened into something better than either of us walked in with.

Same two people. Same wiring. The only difference is the moment.
