🪷Word choice matters. 🧠

We don't need to call silence the enemy. Silence can be hard. Silence can be anxiety-inducing. It can feel like a lot of things; yet, these descriptions are all impermanent states of being, things we can change. "Enemy" somehow feels more permanent, especially when a healthcare provider says it. If we want to change our relationship with tinnitus, we should consider the emotional charge we hold for tinnitus.

Of course, words have different meanings for each of us. Only you can decide what feels right when you reflect on your own narrative about tinnitus (or whatever you are working through in your life). Ask yourself, do your words reinforce a perspective you want to let go of or support the journey forward?

What this really means is that there is nothing *they* personally can do to help you with tinnitus. Or they don't know much about the resources, specialists, and communities of providers ready to support you.

Just because there isn't a perfect cure does not mean there's nothing that can be done. Follow along for a safe place to land and inspiration to support your journey with tinnitus.

The garlic I planted 11 months ago will have its time to shine this fall and winter in my kitchen.

Next month, it will be time to plant more and start the process all over again. This is the quiet work- the preparation and the trust in the process.

Tinnitus management requires similar forward thinking. This doesn't mean we should keep expecting the worst or spend all of our time preparing for tinnitus. It means we should be mindful of how we can support ourselves *today* and build the practices that will help us reach our goals in the not-so-distant *future*.

Meditation includes so many things.
Stillness of the mind does not require stillness of the body. ✨

Here's your reminder to take a moment for yourself. It doesn't have to be long or far removed from your daily tasks. Whether it's a charming park or simply putting down the phone and walking to your window (the original screen time)... take the moment.

What can you do for tinnitus right at this moment?

Be intentional about your breathing.

Before you roll your eyes and scroll away, understand that this is *not* to say breathing alone will "make everything better". It cannot take the place of trusted healthcare providers and other proven strategies. Practicing breathwork is one of my favorite compliments to tinnitus care.

Here's why:
1. Your breath is accessible anytime, anywhere.

2. Paying attention to your breath is an actionable item. It's a task your brain can shift the focus to in place of tinnitus.

3. Breath has the power to change the body’s physiological response (heart rate, blood pressure).

Curious what this means or how to effectively improve breathing patterns? Will cover this soon. Stay tuned.

Your nervous system was here before it was trendy and it will be here for you after too.

There's a lot of talk about nervous system regulation, resetting your nervous system with the one magic trick or hack. So much emphasis is placed on fixing, regulating, and calming that we might forget that our nervous system has multiple jobs!

What does this mean for individuals with bothersome tinnitus who are seeking out nervous system regulation?

You are not broken and your body has not let you down. Learning new tools does not negate the work your body has done to keep you going and get you here.

Let's strive for balance. Let's work with our brains and bodies to support it doing the job we need, when we need it.

Follow along for more tips and to be among the first to know when our first program for tinnitus management goes live. ✨️
