Most parents ask me the wrong question….
Think your child has to reach a certain age before they can start strength training?
Not necessarily.
The reality is that young athletes already place significant force through their joints every time they sprint, jump, cut, land, throw, and play their sport.
The question isn't:
❌ "Are they old enough to lift?"
It's:
✅ "Can they move well enough to lift?"
Before adding weight, I look at:
✔ Squat mechanics
✔ Single-leg control
✔ Core and pelvic stability
✔ Balance
✔ Hip mobility and movement quality
When athletes learn to control their body first, strength training becomes safer, more effective, and more likely to improve performance.
A strong foundation today can help build a stronger, more resilient athlete tomorrow.
