MagnaCon 2026 absolutely incredible!♥️✨🙌🏻

We had the opportunity to learn about updated technology, new protocols, and previews of exciting studies that will be released soon. It was also so special getting to catch up with friends from across the states, make new connections, and be surrounded by people who are just as passionate about equine wellness and performance!🤩

Continuing education is extremely important to us, and we are always striving to learn more, grow, and be the best we can be for the horses and clients we serve. While online resources and day-to-day experience are valuable, nothing truly compares to an in-person learning opportunity like this — being hands-on, surrounded by industry professionals, and able to bring that knowledge directly back into our business. 📚 🧠 🧲

And of course, we can’t forget the iconic experience of visiting THE Churchill Downs!🏇🏼🏆

This trip was much needed and came at the perfect time. It left us feeling motivated, confident, inspired, and reminded of exactly why we do what we do. We are excited to implement a lot of what we learned into our business, services, and systems in the very near future.

With temperatures projected to soon reach triple digits for the first time this year, here are some important tips to prevent heat-related problems in horses:

1. Know the signs of fatigue and overheating.
2. Keep your horse hydrated.
3. Keep a supply of water available for your horse to drink.
4. Provide salt and electrolytes as needed.
5. Limit exertion during peak heat.
6. Optimize ventilation in the trailer.
7. Plan ahead for trailering.
8. Provide shade.
9. Ensure good air circulation in barns.
10. To lower body temperature, hose off your horse or pour a bucket of water over your horse.

Mythbusters:
* It is a myth that if a hot horse drinks water, it will experience colic or other medical problems.
*Research has shown that sweat scraping, or removing water from the horse’s coat, is not necessary. Failing to remove excess water will not make your horse any hotter or have detrimental effects on health.

💥 Friendly Scheduling Reminder 💥

At Western Equine Wellness, we do our very best to accommodate our clients’ schedules and provide as much flexibility as possible when booking appointments. We understand that life happens, schedules change, and unexpected situations arise.

In return, we ask that clients also be prepared and available for the agreed-upon appointment date and time.

To help everyone stay informed, we invest in a scheduling system that sends an initial appointment confirmation when your appointment is booked, as well as two courtesy reminder notifications leading up to your scheduled appointment. These reminders are provided to help reduce missed appointments and give clients ample opportunity to communicate any scheduling conflicts in advance.

Scheduling, route planning, and appointment management require a significant amount of time and coordination behind the scenes. When a client is unavailable, not present, or fails to show up for a scheduled appointment, it impacts not only our schedule but also other horse owners who are waiting for an available appointment slot.

Please remember that failure to be available for your scheduled appointment may result in a cancellation or missed appointment fee.

We value clear communication and greatly appreciate clients who notify us as soon as possible if they need to make changes to their appointment. This allows us the opportunity to offer that time slot to another client and continue providing efficient, reliable service to everyone we care for.
