Hearing loss is more common than you might think, and it affects people of all ages.

Long-term exposure to loud sounds – from headphones to job sites – can cause permanent damage. And once it’s gone, it doesn’t come back.

Small steps make a big difference:
✔ Lower the volume
✔ Use ear protection
✔ Take listening breaks

Your future self will thank you. 🌟 👂

🛑 Tick Safety & Awareness at Yuma Proving Ground 🕷️

As temperatures rise, ticks become more active across outdoor areas. Whether you're hiking, training, working outdoors, or exploring the desert, it’s important to protect yourself and your family from tick bites and tick-borne illnesses.

🔍 After spending time outdoors:
• Check warm areas like underarms, behind knees, waistlines, scalp, and around ears
• Watch for small dark specks, irritation, or rash-like reactions
• Remove ticks carefully using fine-tipped tweezers and clean the area thoroughly

⚠️ Monitor for symptoms after a bite, including:
• Fever or chills
• Fatigue or body aches
• Expanding rash or “bullseye” pattern

🏥 The YPG Health Clinic can assist with:
✔️ Safe tick removal
✔️ Tick testing
✔️ Medical evaluation for concerning symptoms

A quick tick check today can help prevent bigger health problems tomorrow. Stay prepared, stay aware, and enjoy the outdoors safely.

🌟 Leadership Spotlight: CPT Emily Carmody 🌟

We are proud to introduce Officer in Charge (OIC) and Physician Associate (PA) of the YPG Health Clinic, CPT Emily Carmody! Over the past year and a half, CPT Carmody has been a wonderful addition to our team, constantly going above and beyond for our community. As both our OIC and PA, she wears multiple hats to ensure the health, readiness, and well-being of our force, providing top-notch, hands-on patient care while keeping the clinic running smoothly and efficiently.

CPT Carmody truly leads by example, not just in the clinic but also out in the field. She recently conducted dedicated training sessions leading up to the grueling Norwegian Foot March. Thanks to her leadership and preparation, she completed the ruck alongside four other soldiers, leading the entire team to an incredible 100% pass rate! 🥾🎒

Her career of service includes previous assignments at Fort Bliss, TX, Joint Base San Antonio, TX, Fort Stewart, GA, and Fort Campbell, TN. In her free time she volunteers as a Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examiner. When she isn't in uniform, she enjoys relaxing by the pool during the Yuma heat with her family and her dogs. Whether she is treating patients, pushing her soldiers to achieve physical excellence, or boosting team morale, her dedication to the mission and the staff is truly appreciated.

Next time you are at the clinic, be sure to stop by say hello to CPT Carmody!

Please note: The clinic will be closed Friday, May 22nd and Monday 25th, in observance of the holiday weekend.

This Memorial Day, let's take a moment to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

Memorial Day is more than just a long weekend and the unofficial start of summer. It’s a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to our country.

Originally called Decoration Day, it was first widely observed on May 30, 1868, to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers. After World War I, the day was expanded to honor those who died in all American wars. In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday and placed on the last Monday in May.

Let's use this day to count our blessings and stand proud. We are the home of the free, because of the brave.

Ways to Observe Memorial Day:

Visit a memorial or cemetery: Pay your respects to fallen soldiers by visiting a local memorial or cemetery. Many communities hold ceremonies and place flags on the graves of service members.

Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance: At 3 p.m. local time, pause for a minute of silence to honor those who have died in service to the nation.

Fly the flag at half-staff: On Memorial Day, the American flag is flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon, then raised to full-staff until sunset. This honors the fallen in the morning and symbolizes the nation's resilience.

Attend a parade or concert: Many communities hold parades and concerts to honor our fallen heroes.

Let's ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Happy Nurses and Medics Week! 🩺🎉

Last week, we took the time to celebrate and show our deepest appreciation for the unwavering dedication, expertise, and hard work of our incredible nurses and medics. You are the backbone of our healthcare mission!

To honor our team, we held a special cake-cutting ceremony this past Wednesday, where our medics were presented with their well-deserved medic cups. 🍰☕

We capped off an amazing week of celebration with some friendly competition during a morning soccer game ⚽, followed by a fantastic team breakfast generously provided by our leadership. 🥞🥓

Thank you to all our nurses and medics for everything you do to keep our force healthy and ready. We appreciate you this week and every week!

MyAuth is replacing DSLogon!

Many TRICARE secure self-service platforms require you to log on with myAuth or DS Logon. myAuth is a secure login option that’s replacing DS Logon across Military Health System platforms.

Some platforms have already transitioned to myAuth. You’ll continue to use DS Logon to log in to platforms that haven’t yet transitioned to myAuth. These platforms will transition to myAuth in the coming months.

The platform you’re using will tell you if you need a myAuth account or DS Logon account to log in. You can create a myAuth account or DS Logon account if you don’t have one.
