Today I turn 49. 🎉

As I was thinking about what to share this year, I realized something...

The things that have helped me stay active, healthy, and medication-free aren’t complicated.

They are the simple things I do over and over again.

Many of you know my story.

I live with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, a rare disease that has brought its share of challenges.

Over the years I’ve been told things I couldn’t do, things that might happen, and reasons to be afraid.

But I’ve learned that while we can’t always control our circumstances, we can control the habits we practice every day.

So instead of focusing on turning 49, I want to focus on helping others take one small step toward better health.

💛 Move your body.
💛 Eat more protein.
💛 Drink more water.
💛 Get outside.
💛 Stretch.
💛 Practice gratitude.
💛 Let go of all-or-nothing thinking.

Fitness expert and rare disease don’t usually go together.

Neither do:

❌ Quick fixes and long-term health
❌ Crash diets and sustainable results
❌ Ignoring symptoms and true wellness
❌ More medication and better habits (when lifestyle factors are part of the picture)

Living with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome forced me to become proactive about my health from a young age.

I’ve learned that health isn’t built in a day.

It’s built through the choices we make consistently.

The food we eat.
The way we move.
The way we manage stress.
The quality of our sleep.
The questions we’re willing to ask.

This is why I’m passionate about helping others create realistic plans that fit their lives.

Your health doesn’t need perfection.

It needs a next step.

🎉 Happy 14th Birthday, Trenton! 🎉

When your mom is a fitness trainer, your birthday gathering might include jump ropes, a workout class, and a little friendly competition. 😆

I love seeing people (of all ages) challenge themselves, have fun, and realize they can do more than they think.

Building healthy habits, confidence, and having fun all at the same time. ❤️

Great job this morning everyone and 14 birthday pushups were done for Trenton. 😉

When was the last time you questioned something you were told about your health?

I was told to stop exercising.

So I became a fitness trainer.

I was told having children would be too dangerous because of my Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome.

We have five amazing kids.

I was told I might lose my leg to amputation by the time I was 18.

I’m almost 49 and still have both legs.

Now, am I saying doctors are always wrong? Absolutely not.

But I am saying that sometimes we hear something and immediately accept it as our future.

What if instead we became curious?

What if we asked more questions?
What if we sought additional opinions?What if we learned how nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, mindset, and daily habits impact our health?

No one will ever care more about your health than you.

That’s why I’m passionate about helping people understand their bodies, ask better questions, and take ownership of their health journey.

You may not be able to change every diagnosis or challenge.

But you can often change what happens next.

Memorial Day morning looked like this. 🇺🇸❤️

Spinning. Strength training. Community. Movement.

And honestly… this is about so much more than calories burned.

Regular movement helps:
✔️ support heart health
✔️ improve energy and mood
✔️ maintain muscle as we age
✔️ improve balance and mobility
✔️ support mental health and stress levels
✔️ increase independence and quality of life later on

You do not need perfect workouts.
You do not need to “go hard” every day.
You do not need to look like someone on social media.

You just need to keep moving.

Some people in these clips are beginners.
Some are rebuilding strength.

10 years. 💛

What started as a simple community workout in the park has grown into something so much bigger.

Families. Friends. Kids. Beginners. Longtime members. People showing up nervous. People showing up strong. People simply deciding to move their bodies together.

And every single year… this event reminds me that fitness is about SO much more than appearance.

It’s about:

✨ encouragement
✨ health
✨ connection
✨ creating memories
✨ showing up together

There’s a BIG difference between:
❌ doing things that SOUND healthy
and
✅ doing things that actually support long-term health.

As a trainer and wellness coach, I see this all the time.

People are trying.
But sometimes social media, trends, and quick fixes have people focusing on the wrong things.

Real health usually comes back to the basics:
✔️ strength training
✔️ protein
✔️ sleep
✔️ stress management
✔️ movement
✔️ hydration
✔️ consistency
✔️ balanced nutrition

Not perfection.
Not extremes.
Not punishment.

Just learning how to support your body better over time.

And honestly? Most people need MORE nourishment and muscle… not more restriction.

This was part of our moving circuit class yesterday and honestly… this type of training is so underrated. 💪

Instead of sitting at one station, we moved through different exercises, equipment, movement patterns, and intensity levels.

Why does that matter?

Because variety challenges the body and brain in different ways:
✔️ Improves cardiovascular endurance
✔️ Builds strength and coordination
✔️ Helps with balance and stability
✔️ Keeps workouts engaging
✔️ Mimics real-life movement better than sitting all day and doing one repetitive exercise

And one of the biggest benefits?

People of different fitness levels can usually work at their OWN pace while still feeling part of the group. 🙌

You do not need to “go all out” every workout to improve your health.

You need consistency.
You need movement.
You need a plan that works for YOUR body.

As someone living with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, I’ve learned that movement has to be adaptable. Some days look different than others… and that’s okay.

Most people don’t need a “harder” workout.

They need the RIGHT type of movement for their body, energy, season of life, stress level, goals, and health challenges.

Stop trying to force your body to match what you see online.

And honestly?
We need ALL of it.

✔️ Cardio for heart health and endurance
✔️ Strength for muscle, metabolism, bone health, and longevity
✔️ Balance work for stability and fall prevention
✔️ Core work for posture and support
✔️ Mobility and stretching so we can KEEP moving well

Some days you may feel strong.
Some days you may need modifications.
Some days a walk is enough.

That still counts.

As someone living with Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, I’ve learned that movement isn’t about perfection… it’s about supporting your body the best you can and continuing to show up.

You do not need to “go hard” to improve your health.

You just need to keep moving.

✨ Start where you are
✨ Modify when needed
✨ Stay consistent
